Need help setting new router up

The cable co. said my router was old and needed replacing. So I bought a Motorola DOCSIS 3.1 cable modem, my last one was a Motorola combo cable modem/router. I read through the install instructions, and the VERY LAST thing it said was that the device did not include a router.

So I bought an Asus GS-AX5400. I went to install it, and the cable from the wall has a coax end rather than the network jack I was expecting.

I'd like to make sure that I need to connect the cable modem to the coax cable then connect a network cable from the cable modem to the router, right? Is there anything else I should know about?
