Did I make the right choice by forcing the library to shut down the computer reservation self service machine that ran XP?

I told them how dangerous it was and I even showed them how quiclky I knew the main user password (123456) and accessing the desktop right after a reboot *from the login screen by pressing win+L). Did I make the right choice by shutting down this system?
