So? The same way that there's people who like to shop without gender in mind for their children, there are people who do. And the way it is at the moment, diamond rings are very much a female product, there's really not that many men compared to women wearing diamond rings. There's nothing majorly disturbing about it, it's not like it's a diamond dildo rattle, and a baby that's at the age of using a rattle isn't even gonna know what a diamond ring is.
What the hell?
The same way that there's people who like to shop without gender in mind for their children, there are people who do.
Um, and don't you think it's disturbing that at that early age we are conditioned to like specific things concerning girls, and guys? What if the toy was a blue car and said for a good little boy? Also, lose the "female". It's girls, women, ladies, etc. Every time we use female it just dehumanizes us.
It's a fact that some people buy gender specific toys. I never said it was right, I just stated that some people do, I wouldn't personally but that doesn't mean that I or any of us have the right to act like it's this awful thing to market something that IS pretty much gender specific in a gender specific way. How many men do you know that wear diamond rings compared to women? A diamond ring IS a typically female (or woman, seeing as you freak out at the term "female") product. Is giving a child a rattle in the shape of a diamond ring REALLY going to damage her/him? (let's not forget that just because it's marketed towards girls that only girl babies are going to get it, it's got a good looking grip and is very bright and noticable, so realistically it would be good for any baby that likes to throw toys out of their pram). And so what if the toy were a blue car and marketed towards a boy? Does that mean that it will only be boys getting it? No, of course not. If you have a problem with buying toys that are marketed towards a specific gender, then don't buy them. Just because you're against it doesn't mean that everybody else has to be.
This actually made me chuckle. I can just see it now, a little baby girl with the ring in her mouth and her mom going, "Whooose a good little girl? Whooose gonna get married to a rich guy?"
But I don't see a big issue with this. I grew up loving typically girly things, and would probably have enjoyed this toy very much.
