Review:

I like how this book begins literally right on the dot from the previous one, with the palace attack. Honestly, beyond the initial attack, though, the plots were just sort of boring to me. First, the wedding plot. I love the interactions with your chosen LI, and the core 4 Lis are still incredibly enjoyable characters. I like how all 4 propose to you, it all feels very in character. The whole wedding tour thing, however, feels kind of forced. It makes sense in context, but it just feels like a contrived reason to go touring everywhere again, something we already did in the first two books. It’s neat seeing Penelope and Kiara in their homes, I suppose, and meeting Hana’s parents is also neat. I love how Constantine and Regina just accept you even if you rejected Liam’s proposal lmao. I was expecting more of a protest, ya know? The other new characters are sort of boring. Penelope’s parents, Kiara’s parents, Ezekiel, and the rest are just sort of dull. Olivia, on the other hand, is just as likable here as she has been for the past two books. Her dynamic with her aunt is interesting, and I love how she stands up to Lucretia too. Speaking of Lucretia, let’s talk about the terrorist plot. It’s…alright, I suppose? You know, for terrorists, they sure aren’t that frightening lol. I suppose there is a legitimate threat level throughout the whole book, but it never really feels all that dangerous or serious. Also, Justin being a twist villain - meh. Did I see it coming? No. Did I think it was all that clever? Also no. Everything with him in the end, like all the action scenes, is just sorta there. I don’t hate it, but it never really grabbed my full attention. I also have to take off my usual genderlock point. Look, I’m not trying to sound overly negative here. This book is still good, and has all the charm of the first two. But when you’re playing all these books back to back, you just get tired of basically the same plot three times in a row. Overall, though, this book still holds up to the previous books in the series in terms of charm and core cast. Just a little stale by now, is all.
