Deck Help

I just recently got into magic with some friends. I purchased the exit from exile precon. I really like how it plays and the theme of the deck, so I wanted to upgrade it. Still learning the game and this deck so I'm trying to identify win conditions. Thinking since my commander makes wolves from playing from exile, I add in more exile cards and things to buff up my wolves to attack. However, I'm not quite sure how I would close out the game with the wolves (maybe make [[Laelia, the Blade Reforged]] stronger with counters via exile?)

Looking for any suggestions to improve my deck or synergies that I may be missing

Great choice for a first precon. It’s a fun deck. Here are some win cons to consider:

Combat: The most obvious win con is swinging in with your wolves. You want overrun effects like [[end raze forerunners]] which comes in the deck. You can try [[Overwhelming stampede]] [[great oak guardian]] or [[beastmaster ascension]]. Make sure to stay away from wolf anthems, it’s one of the biggest traps.

Ping effects: the deck comes with a couple like [[warstorm surge]] and [[passionate archeologist]]. You can add more like [[witty roastmaster]] [[impact tremors]] and [[purphoros god of the forge]].

Combo: when all else fails, go the combo route. It’s never a bad idea to have one as a plan C to close out a long running game. There are many in green/red to select from. Pick one that fits your budget. Note that combo is usually how decks become boring so only do this as a last resort

Thanks for the suggestions! Yeah I'm trying to avoid combos. More interested in seeing what comes out from my cascade / exile draws and playing more cards. What is wolf anthem?

Wolf anthem meaning cards that gives specifically wolves/werewolves +1/+1

gotcha. so I should remove [[Immerwolf]], [[Nightpack Ambusher]], and [[Howlpack Resurgence]]?

Yeah, those cards should go if you want to increase the power of the deck. If you want a better version use [[Sylvan Anthem]]. Getting a scry trigger is super useful

[[harvest season]] [[eldrazi monument]] [[craterhoof behemoth]] [[champion of lambholt]]

Are a few decent ones. Or other spells like [[overwhelming stampede]]

In my build I run [[cryptolith rites]] and [[mana echoes]] for big mana effects. With a haste enabler you can go pretty wild and cast a game ending [[jaya’s immolating inferno]] or [[crackle with power]]

If you get enough wolves you can close out the game by swinging them. [[end-raze forerunners]] comes with that deck and is a great closer because it pumps your wolves, gives them trample, and gives them vigilance so they can still block if you miscalculated and didn’t win the game. Also I recommend [[hollowhenge overlord]] if you want to go the wolf route because it gives you tons of wolves.

That’s awesome I didn’t know that card even existed! Thanks! And I originally took out end raze, but that’s a good point. Seems like I’ll be putting it back

Here is my Faldorn list.

Something important to keep in mind with the deck is that just playing random shit from exile is not a win con. Use exiling cards from the top of your library (usually called impulse draw) to draw into powerful threats in quick order to close out games with rapidly mounting value. Sure, you get 2/2 wolves when you cast shit from exile, and with pumps they can win you the game, but it's pretty inefficient.

For my deck, I have a package of big, hard hitting creatures that do cool things that I try to play from exile. The wolves are just fodder for blocking in my case. You could choose good token producers instead of giant creatures and flood the board. I've also seen a lands matter list where you try to play as many lands from exile as you can and wrack up as much wanton value as you can. Because of how fast a deck with heavy draw can rip through your library, digging for combo pieces is pretty easy, so a combo deck could be good as well.

So in short, impulse draw is just a method of digging for your actual win con and Faldorn just earns you some additional value along the way.

When you put it like that.. it makes a lot of sense. It does just feel like I'm pulling random shit from exile and hoping for the best. I need to exile with meaning
