Two echos, still no answers, just scary terms.
This year has been a whirlwind. Had my baby January 2022, had what they THOUGHT was a TIA in February, and got my first echo done in April.
The results of that echo were:
Summary:
- Left ventricular ejection fraction at rest, by visual estimation, is 55 to 60%.
- Pseudonormal pattern of LV diastolic filling.
- Abnormal strain suggestive of Cardiomyopathy.
My doctor switched me over to Losartan 50mg once a day, patted me on the back and said see ya in six months, after telling me I had heart damage (based off the specter Doppler results apparently).
So I got a new case of health anxiety and spent the next several months very anxious and confused, but with my BP leveled out.
A few weeks ago my BP has started to slightly rise again, but I was sick, dealing with a high stress class and a sick baby. It still hasn’t come back down yet but hoping it was just that. Anyways I got a second opinion from a new cardiologist who specializes in women with heart problems after pregnancy. He ordered another echo and a bunch of labs. Last weeks echo stated:
Summary:
- Left ventricular ejection fraction at rest, by visual estimation, is 55 to 60%.
- Diastolic dysfunction. Grade II. Elevated left ventricular end-diastolic pressure.
- RV is not very well visualized. RV size may be mildly enlarged. RV function is normal. Top normal pulmonary pressure.
- Saline contrast bubble study was negative, with no evidence of any intracardiac shunt.
- Elevated left ventricular end-diastolic pressure.
For some reason my new cardiologist cannot yet see those images, and he wasn’t the one to sign off on the echo (another cardiologist did). So he told me he sees the notation of grade two DD but will have to wait to get the images.
So I’m still just left in the same boat. Unsure of what’s going on, what my outlook is, and why any of this is happening. I never had a single health issue (including BP) before giving birth. Now I’m scared to death years are dropping off my life before my eyes. At least my Renal Artery Scan came back clear?
I just need somewhere to talk about these fears with people who understand. I’m just scared. I’m 29yrs old. 40lbs overweight.
