Which one do you like better at this point, OP?
I really like the CFW on the Miyoo, onion os is just so good, but the RG280v is a bit more comfortable for me. Hopefully the Miyoo holds up and doesn’t break.
I picked up an RG280v last year for a vacation trip, and had to fix the screen popping off on it. Disappointed to hear the Miyoo Mini can have a similar problem. I have the grey one delivering next week (bought for something fun to tinker with). I like that I have the Adam image really dialed in on my 280v, but I hear good things about the FW options on the Mini.
One thing I dislike about the Anbernic device is how close the d-pad and buttons are to the bottom. I’m hoping I find the Mini a little more comfortable in that regard.
I have spent a good amount of time tweaking the settings on the Adam image. But the whole save/shutdown in one press is so nice. The game switcher is smooth.
I probably spend more time tinkering than playing.
Early July I watched a video from RetroGame Corps on the Miyoo Mini and I was really impressed. I have had many various Nintendo handhelds over the years, so I figured I’d pick one of these up. Unfortunately I had two orders cancelled and as we all know they’re generally unavailable.
As a result of being unable to get one I ended up going for the Anbernic RG351M, which I really liked. I figured I would pick up a powkiddy v90 to gift for my little brother for Christmas. It was okay for the price, but it felt a little janky. Still unable to buy a Miyoo Mini, I picked up the Anbernic RG280V. The day before the RG280V arrived I managed to snag the Miyoo Mini on Aliexpress.
I have been playing with the RG351M, RG280V and V90 for the past few weeks, patiently waiting for the Miyoo Mini to arrive. The v90 is definitely the worst in terms of CFW, emulation prowess, and fit and polish but it is a lot of fun.
I really love the RG280V whilst playing it, but the CFW has some rough edges. A lot of tweaking later it is finally starting to feel nice.
Finally I have the Miyoo mini. First impressions was that the screen was coming away from the body, and with all the posts of the screens failing I was really disappointed.
I ended up doing a dispute with AliExpress and they have refunded me 50% of the cost. At this point it is in the similar price point of the v90, so I am pleased. I have ordered some B9000 screen glue to affix it.
The OnionOs is top notch. On par with the RG351M in terms of ease of use. The game switcher is amazing and games run really well. I have put about 3 hours into FF9 and is is really nice, I find it comfortable to use.
Hopefully my screen doesn’t die and I get a good few years of play on this thing.
