Best weekend getaways in the BC area

My partner and I are from Seattle and want to pop over the border for a weekend getaway in BC. We would love to find a town with plenty of food options and room to explore, but isn't so big that we're spending the whole time in the city. We would also love to go on a hike or two, see some lovely sites, etc.. Any recommendations? So far, we're leaning towards Victoria but wanted to see what hidden gems there were for a quiet getaway!
