[Review] Deconstruct Salicylic Acid Oil Control Face Wash – 0.5% Salicylic acid + 1% Niacinamide

Review

#πŸ‘» Review type:

Just... good πŸ˜‚ A nice, non-stripping cleanser.

4.5/5

Docking half a point for unrealistic brand claims, and nitpicking about the label, that's all.

WRP, but maybe not immediately - I'd like to try something new. Maybe even the Rejusure 2% Salicylic Face wash again, only using it every day this time πŸ€”

πŸ‘½ Skin type: Oily

Sensitive, malassezia (fungal acne) - prone, PIE/PIH-prone, mildly acne-prone

🀑 Climate: Usually hot and humid

This face wash lasted me through monsoon, which was slightly cooler.

πŸ‘Ή Age: 30

πŸ€– Usage timeline: Since June, so four and a half months (I have one last use left). Used once a day, at night.

#πŸ‘» Ingredient list Aqua, Cocoamidopropyl betaine, Sodium Methyl 2-Sulfolaurate, Disodium 2-Sulfolaurate, Sodium Methyl Cocoyl Taurate, Chamomilla Recutita extract, Aloe Barbadensis extract, Glycerine, Xylitylglucoside , Anhydroxylitol, Xylitol, Niacinamide, Xanthan Gum, Ethylhexylglycerin, Phenoxyethanol, Salicylic Acid, Betaine, Sodium Gluconate.

πŸ¦‡ Price: β‚Ή299 for 100ml.

Usually available for around 250 bucks. It woulda lasted me around two months if I used it morning and night, so I'd consider it okay value for money.

I will say, I expected the bottle to be much larger, because of the scale of the print on the label πŸ˜‚ I was VERY surprised when I got it and it was... small. That's one reason I added a photo of the bottle (which is otherwise very nice, sturdy and practical). I have quite small hands! That text is a bit disproportionate, IMO, and makes the online photos slightly misleading.

Images of bottle, texture, foam, pH strip of around 5.5

#πŸ‘» User experience

A clear, thickish consistency. Pretty much your usual face wash. It lathers up, but depends on the amount you use - how much I used in the texture shot lathered a LOT, and was too much for one use πŸ™ƒ The bubbles are just because it's on its last legs, otherwise it's just an unremarkable, clear gel.

It makes a soft, fine lather - not as bubbly or as foamy as an old-school foaming face wash. Pleasurable enough to use. Non-stripping, but cleanses effectively. It lathers a bit less when I use it to double cleanse, after a cleansing balm.

The pH, as you can see, is around 5.5. Points for that πŸ™ŒπŸΌ So it's pH-balanced.

#πŸ‘» My thoughts

I'd recommend this cleanser to anyone with oily/sensitive skin, but I wouldn't expect it to have any particular benefits, besides giving a good cleanse. The brand claims:

Salicylic acid and Niacinamide work together to unclog pores, control sebum production, and prevent comedones. This light yet effective gel salicylic acid face wash removes dirt and impurities, cleans pores, reduces blackheads and reveals softer skin

I cannot say I've noticed my skin being less oily at all πŸ€·πŸ½β€β™€οΈ Or taking longer to get oily. Like, what foaming face wash doesn't degrease? They all do. Didn't do shit for blackheads, either. Didn't expect it to πŸ˜‚

Wouldn't recommend for dry skin, because despite the surfactants being quite gentle, there's enough of them in there that it can leave your skin feeling a bit squeaky if you use a little extra... which, as an oily-skinned person, it's the exact level of cleansing strength I prefer in a face wash ☺️

Hope that was helpful! K, byee ❀️
