Rainbows and butterflies

Poem

My family used to do bedtime prayers

Piled onto my dads lap with

Heads bowed, eyes peaked open

Ended with an amen and a tickle fight

Giggles fit for a family

He’d pray we’d have good dreams

Of rainbows and butterflies

Of puppy dogs and kitty cats

Maybe one day I’ll write about those

But right now when I close my eyes

All I can see are the nightmares
