Are you supposed to feel better after your diagnosis?
I got diagnosed with adhd about a week and a half ago and I basically feel the same as I did before. I was waiting for this new feeling of relief or comfort or alleviation but I just feel nothing.
I don’t know if it’s cuz deep down I’ve known that I’ve had adhd for about 2 or 3 years and I’ve been too scared to muster up the courage to tell my mum but I finally decided to tell her about my suspicions a couple months ago so we got a referral from my GP and I started seeing a psychologist and we started the testing and all that jazz. It took the psychologist a couple weeks to get back to us and just how I suspected, I have adhd (primarily inattentive type but I was 1 point off the hyperactivity criteria).
I guess I feel a bit better as now I have a legitimate explanation for my behaviours and difficulties and stuff like that but the it just thought I would feel so much different than I do
I am going to see a paediatrician in a couple of days to discuss meds and therapy so I’ll give an update after that but has anyone else had a similar experience to me? Is this normal?
