Atreus may not be Loki.
So there are two characters in Norse Mythology with Loki as thier name. Obviously there is the God of mischief. Then there is a leader of the Giants UTGARD-LOKI. He is a giant with extra powers. Atrues has displayed a lot of powers in no way associated with Mischief Loki.
I'm just speculating and I don't really have a way to back this up, but that's what I think will be revealed. I think the God of Mischief Loki already exists and Kratos killed him at some point. That's why he is so troubled when Atreus says that the spirit of the Giants call him Loki.
Again just a very loose theory, I don't know much about Utgard-Loki, just a fun idea.

Atreus’ parents are Laufey (Faye) and Farbauti (Kratos’ name on the mural in Jotunheim), who are Loki’s parents in Norse mythology.
I think that’s pretty solid proof that he is in fact Loki.

Not necessarily pointless, in mythology, the giant snake is supposed to be Lokis son that Loki gives birth too, but that wasn't the case in the game lol so who knows what they'll change. Don't be discouraged by your theory. In my opinion, I didn't like anyone calling Atreus "Loki" or himself calling him that because he didn't even like that name in the last game, now all of a sudden he's literally obsessed with it and the giants.
