Volo X Jason Tremblay Abbazia (Biere De Garde)

Jason nee Shacklands has a collab. I think I remember hearing he was working on a new project. Does anyone know more than that?

Working for a startup brewery, Two Loons. This beer is a bit of an homage to my time being the bug / barrel / Belgian guy at Volo + being more lager-focused at the new job. Chris runs a great brewery, and it was great hanging out with Ralph and Tomas again.

I’m looking forward to getting back into the swing of things!

Can't wait, we need more lagers!

Will you have your own brewing space, or are we going to see them first as contract brews?

Yes! We have a space + brewing equipment in central Toronto with an IPA making its way to the LCBO real soon.

Sounds excellent!

Central Toronto is smart. Yonge and Sheppard ish? That's where I'd aim for.

Any idea what the pricing is like beyond the $10 entry cover?

Previous non-cask Bar Volo tap takeovers were $9-$10 per 12-14oz pour of normal 5-7% ABV. Just speaking specifically of Third Moon, at least.

Does Volo still do one night a week where all beers are priced special? I remember when they were on Yonge they did and I went often but with two young kids I haven’t been in years. Would like to check the new place out.

Yeah, but only their house beers. Tuesday, I think.

Fortunately their house beers do updated classics very well. Can't vouch for the IPAs. Their pastry stouts are terrible, but I repeat myself.

Their in house IPAs are really good

I don't doubt it. I'm off IPAs, but I've been really happy with their house ale program in general.

Volo has never brewed a pastry stout

I take it the Third Moon collab was brewed by them then?

Makes sense. It did not have the nuance the Volo beers always do.

1

Yes, Third Moon collab was brewed by Third Moon, concept (Italian cookies) was pitched by Volo crew… You’re too kind though, glad you enjoy the Volo beers!
