“Ding” when I turn - 09 VW City Golf
Hello! Please forgive my ignorance. I know nothing about cars besides the basics and I just started driving.
I have a 2009 VW City Golf that is in pretty good condition.
When I take my first left turn on the way to work in the morning, the car will make a single “ding” noise, the same sound as the seatbelt alarm. It will not do it again for the rest of the day, but always that left turn in the morning.
I thought it was because I had a bag on the passenger seat and it was setting off the seatbelt sensor but that’s not it. Could it be fluids shifting when I turn and that’s setting off a sensor or something? Nothing lights up on the dash. This is a new phenomenon and it’s recently gotten colder where I live if that matters.
Any idea what could be happening? Thanks!

Not sure if its that, but you mentioned that it got colder where you at so on my MK6 Golf when the temperature is below 4 degrees Celsius that “ding” sound turns on for like a second.
39 degrees Fahrenheit in the States… and my stomach does a quick sink every time it goes off
Same 😂
Yep, same on my Mk7 and a little snow flake icon will appear next to the temperature display. The reason why it takes a while to trigger is because the measured temperature probably drops a bit still when you drive.
Yep exactly
Interesting! I had no idea. Thanks for the info everyone.
4C is when the surface of the pavement freezes I think, so it’s warning you that it could be slippery. This confused me when I first got my city as well.
