Thanks ! and yeah, I really felt like I needed to put emphasis on "nothing matches", since it really depicts this relationship. I'm glad you resonate with it :)

A very enchanting read! As someone who has been part of LDRs, this brought back memories of butterfly-filled airplane rides to see my lover after months apart. I really enjoy your diction and how you tie things together.

Nothing matches;

But everything drives me back to you.

Resonated with me a lot, I loved it! :)

Very interesting read.

I would say the the tone carries throughout the poem, its loose yet it somehow holds together. Like silly putty lol.

Great first post.

I loved this a lot, it almost felt like it could be a song. Nothing matches, but everything drives me back to you. Excellent work. My only suggestion is some formatting. Play with splitting up lines differently, ending each line with strong words, find a more poetic flow? I find writing each sentence with proper punctuation helps with this. Like even at the beginning of proper lines, it should be lower case if it’s in the middle of a sentence. Great work!!

Hello readers, welcome to OCpoetry. This subreddit is a writing workshop community -- a place where poets of all skill levels can share, enjoy, and talk about each other's poetry. Every person who's shared, including the OP above, has given some feedback (those are the links in the post) and hopes to receive some in return (from you, the readers).

If you really enjoyed this poem and just want to drop a quick comment, to show some appreciation or give kudos, things like "great job!" or "made me cry", or "loved it" or "so relateable", please do. Everyone loves a compliment. Thanks for taking the time to read and enjoy.

If you want to share your own poem, you'll need to give this writer some detailed feedback. Good feedback explains from your point of view what it was like to read the poem, and then tries to explain how the poem made you feel like that. (24/07/22 - 5:15 pm - on a plane to you)

Eye contact on the sidewalk,
A crooked smile stuck in my mind,
Paths crossed in the multiverse,
Altered destiny since the day we met,
It was written: there was no going back.

Nothing matches;
But everything drives me back to you.

Linked by a story only we share,
We opened a book then we aren’t about to close now.
We’re miles away, still, I’ll find my way to you every time.
Inked by your existence, my soul cannot forget,
Time doesn’t spare anyone alas, nothing be taken for granted!
Thirsty for a love affair that has yet to begin,
If we make it right today, say less :

It was written, in time I have faith.
