This is strong. This hits hard. And (this is a complement) I really couldn't clock the perspective until I'd read it a few times through. It'd be fine if were coming from any given POV, but once I tapped into the pain of it; I relate very closely. Agree with other commenters that the repetition is impactful. Cool piece.

Incomprehensible divinity...exactly how I feel about it.

If you haven't already studied it I suggest Zang Tumb Tumb, a Dadaist masterpiece....This medium doesn't really allow the levels of changes in format and structures it deserves...there should be blood dripping off pieces of what you wrote

i love the use of repetition in this! definitely adds to the whole biblically-accurate angel vibe. the duality between holiness and unholiness really stands out, and it captures the feelings of religious trauma well too. the formatting made it slightly difficult to read, but that might just be reddit being weird. trying to comprehend the incomprehensible is a difficult subject to convey, and i think this poem does it really well.

Hello readers, welcome to OCpoetry. This subreddit is a writing workshop community -- a place where poets of all skill levels can share, enjoy, and talk about each other's poetry. Every person who's shared, including the OP above, has given some feedback (those are the links in the post) and hopes to receive some in return (from you, the readers).

If you really enjoyed this poem and just want to drop a quick comment, to show some appreciation or give kudos, things like "great job!" or "made me cry", or "loved it" or "so relateable", please do. Everyone loves a compliment. Thanks for taking the time to read and enjoy.

If you want to share your own poem, you'll need to give this writer some detailed feedback. Good feedback explains from your point of view what it was like to read the poem, and then tries to explain how the poem made you feel like that. If you're not sure what that means, check out our [feedback guide](https://new.reddit.com/r/ocpoetry/wiki/feedbackcritiques), or look

Wings erupt from flesh screaming
HOLY
HOLY
HOLY
hallelujah.
Crack open the chest of a believer, listen to gospels
gospels
gospels
anathema.
The devil's tongue whispers through teeth
*eden*
*eden*
*eden*
sin
(Lord's name in vain.)
This is creation, and it's haunted, unholy
Some type of glory
How dare you?
heretic
heretic
heretic
blasphemy blasphemy blasphemy
holy echo.
How dare you? The Lord is always right, divine in His incomprehensibility
You are unworthy.
Hot blood of the scripture, the angels, seraphim, cherubim,
You do have to be good,
And as the Bible preaches and prophesied you shall walk for a thousand miles on your knees through the desert repenting
yes yes yes
be golden golden golden
bells bells bells
in our throats, what's left of sacredness beating
holy
holy
holy.
