I've no love for religion in general, but evangelicals in particular are a fucking blight upon the earth. So much of the general shittery going on in the world today from transphobia to Israeli apartheid has money from these prosperity gospel cunts behind it.

The troubling part is, all mainstream political entities want to court them. The Democrats refused to make "pro-choice" a red line for running for them in the House or Senate. Starmer certainly isn't at his pulpit fighting for trans rights. No major party will countenance simply saying the Israeli government shouldn't murder Palestinians or steal their homes. But the 'left' is considered extremist scum who need their heads examined when they propose something like "stop the police from killing people" or "what is we don't start WW3?" or worst of all "what if we stop burning down the planet?"
Activism against environmental catastrophe or violent oppression in a police state is treated with utter disdain by people who turn around and insist on pretending to have a big tent and to want to 'compromise' with zealots.

Its worth reading a bit more about the topic. The evangelicals used to not really care about abortion. They were politically inert. Its an invented hysteria, they bought into so its a real invented hysteria now. The point was to turn them into rightwing voters where before they were, we're doing our weird shit and we aren't terribly interested in your weird shit.

Because in the US it's never been about actual thougtful morality, which is complex and difficult, it's about being a "Good Christian", so towing the line and virtue signalling to your community.
This means taking a very simplistic "moral" stance and then pushing it to an extreme, the people who then oppose these positions are "evil" and by dehumanising them this is used to justify objectively immoral behaviour towards them.
This is also why you'll see anti-abortion women having abortions, they justify it by the very twisted logic that "people who have abortions are bad people, but I'm a good god fearing person so this is different".

To be totally honest, I respect "No abortions ever" much more than "abortions are bad except in rape and incest". To be totally clear, I am 100% pro-abortion whenever the mother wants one, but it's much easier to understand "Abortion is killing babies, we should never kill babies" than "Abortion is killing babies, but it's okay to kill babies if their dad is a prick".
I will never understand the "abortion is wrong unless the dad is a complete dickhead" types. Abortion is either killing babies or it isn't.

He basically believes we should all be tugging at our forelocks, wearing tweed and thinking of he and his ilk as our 'betters'.
The man still lives with his Nanny who dresses him, does his ironing etc and instead of letting a woman on her 70s rest and relax on his millions she's still looks after his squad of children (7?) AND him.
So the idea he would believe all of the rest of the population should have crimes committed against us, and be fine with He and others like him decreeing we should accept the consequences of rape and incest is not such a stretch...
The hypocrisy of believing this and making money off investing in plan B post sex pills that stop implantation is of course - not discussed.
