In order to save democracy we must subvert it

Palpatine-I-love-democracy.jpg

What strikes me most is the brazenness to brag about it. I assume campaigns like this have existed for every candidate ever, and have evolved as technology evolves, but rarely do they outright come and say it.

The people responsible for it want credit for their genius on the Right Side of the Historical Record, once time has passed and everyone has moved on.

In the past, merely bragging about this would put you on the Wrong Side of History. It’s interesting today how politics is shifting towards ‘no bad tactics, only bad targets’. Anything and everything is acceptable in their pursuit for some notion of the Greater Good, as long as the right people are being attacked.

Of course this is the heart of idpol, where the only principles relate to the identity groups of those involved instead of grander ideas of universal rights and wrongs.

In order to save democracy, we must run the biggest propaganda, censorship, and ballot harvesting campaigns of all time, and even then only "win" by the slightest margin.

Oh and it gets better. In less than two weeks after they get curb-stomped in the midterms "election fraud" will cease to be the unforgivable extremist take, right up there with "anti-vaxx" & "climate denier", and suddenly be the widespread rallying cry for saving democracy.

I can already hear Trevor Noah talking down to me about how these were the most unsecure elections in modern times... Fookin Pootin man

I don't remember there being any reaction to this article when it was published.

even though it sounds like a paranoid fever dream–a well-funded cabal of powerful people, ranging across industries and ideologies, working together behind the scenes to influence perceptions, change rules and laws, steer media coverage and control the flow of information. They were not rigging the election; they were fortifying it.

Libs just turned a blind eye to this insane doublespeak.

And seemingly no one will take the next step of assuming that this kind of "perception influencing" is going on all the time.

"Fortified elections" is chefs kiss perfect

24
MillennialcelOnly elites have power•

Right-wing content creators talked about it at the time because it was basically the left admitting to doing anything to "win" the election. Social media like youtube and twitter were also banning people for questioning election results which squelched open discussion. But of course it's good when non-Western countries challenge their elections when they don't align to "Western democratic values".

Lmao it’s really amazing.

Russia does 1% of what this group did in 2020 and its unequivocal “rigging”.

Also the language used makes it sound like a grandpa reading his grandchildren a fairytale for bed time.

NGL I respect them for just coming out and saying it (manipulating the narrative surrounding the election in order to win it), instead of the usual "this was a grassroots/natural effort by the people of this great nation yadda yadda yadda…"

I hope one term of Biden was worth it for the neolibs and global corptacracy. Cause I'd bet sooner than later this supreme court is going to review the myriad of out-in-the-open bullshit from 2020 to find a ruling that brings on some pretty extreme voter requirement laws.

It's kind of amazing how brazen the ruling class of the last 15 years has acted. Like on some true "no fear of any repercussions ever" shit. Not sure what it is about Trump (considering how little he got done/was allowed to get done) but boy did he ever stir up the biggest mask-off moment from these fuckers I've ever seen in my lifetime. Like Mileena in mortal kombat taking off her shawl to projectile vomit acid all over the working class for 6 years straight now, but they pretend like we don't see it. It's truly baffling shit.

they are not pretending, normies just arent doing anything about it so why would the guys on top care if there are no repercussions?

I feel ya, especially with all the horseshit surrounding the events in Ukraine. If Trump or one of his acolytes wins in 2024, I can see them becoming even more brazen with it: "Would a fascist police state run by the democrats really be that bad" with them going on to clarify that it would only be a "temporary situation" in order to "purge disloyal elements from the country." I mean we see them justifying the 'benefits' of a nuclear war with Russia, so why not justifications for the 'benefits' of a fascist dictatorship at home?

Sometimes Democracy requires a shadowy cabal of wealthy and influential insiders to change the rules and silence anyone who asks questions.

Only if they're on Team Good 🤷🏿‍♀️

Team Evil's shadowy cabals are working to implement the Twelfth Reich, much like Hitler did, in the Avengers movies

With election fraud and intereference continuing to be an issue, I'm curious what everyone thinks of this article from after the 2020 election.

It’s just going to be the same shit over and over again dependent on who loses really, I think D’s are going to cry wolf this time around if they lose (which is very likely)

I don't see what the issue is here. They didn't tip the election in favor of anyone, they prevented the violence a lot of us were expecting. I hate shitlibs and the PMC as much as the rest of this sub, but things could have gone a lot worse.

LOL I remember when this article came out. It was worded provocatively but what exactly nefarious was done by anyone according to the article? Seems like they were taking actions in court against (what they deemed) voter suppression and were working to make voting more accessible during the pandemic. Seems like this was just rage bait for rightoids without anything substantive

It's more aggressive than what they accused Russia of doing to effect some change on the election. Telling anti establishment people that the wealthy establishment elite intervened in the election to stop what the trump base understand to be an anti establishment administration will absolutely fuel their resentments, because these anti establishment people think all the legal, extra legal, and illegal actions taken by these establishment actors are anti democratic.

Hiding behind the ostensible legality of these actions only further erodes maga and apolitical people's faith in the system, because it means the system has coroded to the point that the elite can socially engineer the outcomes they want in broad daylight, violating the democratic principles and spirit of lower case r rebublican sovereignty, which I figure you don't really care about based on your flair and your cope that this was legal, completely missing the forest for the trees.
