Looking for nature inspired/whimsical names that aren't too out there

:list: Name List

My husband and I are expecting a little girl in March. We made a name list of names we really like over the weekend, but we are still hesitating now that we have them all written down. I'll add them at the end of the post for reference.

We are looking for more names to choose from that follow the nature/whimsy trend. I like names that sound delicate, but also have a quirkiness to them as well. I've been looking online, but a lot of the names are either names we already talked about and like/didn't like or just really out there names, like Cove for example..

Here's the list we had of names we liked:

Winter(Winnie)

Meadow

Fern

Poppy

Evee

Flora

Jade

Wren

Summer

Journee

Thanks! :)

Edited to add- I'm specifically asking for new names, not opinions on the name list. I thought that was obvious, but I guess it wasn't. I'm not interested in in opinions on the names we already tossed around or put on a list. I won't be replying to those comments.

I’m a huge fan of this style of naming but not Journee. Not at all.

Don’t name a human Journee lol

It’s just on the list, not necessarily meaning we’re going to choose it. It’s a relatively new name we both initially heard and liked. I’m looking for new name suggestions though, not suggestions about the list I shared.

Okay. But in any case you go for that just spell it Journey :)

I literally today overheard my pregnant coworker say she was naming her daughter Journee. I cringed inside.

I used to know a girl named Journee. She's gotta be close to 30 now. Sadly this stuff is not as new as we think it is

I have a Lark. Her middle name is Eloise to provide some softer sounds. It was a meaningful name choice for us, but we still waffled over it because it is a bit “out there”. Everyone now calls her Lulu or Larky Lu. Once she had the name, we realized it was nicely useable.

Other ones I would consider based on your list are:

Juniper Willow Calla Gemma Iris Lavender Laurel Magnolia Sage

I had a great aunt named Birdie. she was a lovely woman.

How about Sylvie?

2
Sbuggg13OP•

Sylvie is really cute, I actually like that better than the full Sylvia.

WhineCountry2•

I do too! But many people put it in the “nickname” category. I think it sounds more modern

Elfaphant•

So do I, it’s in my top 3!

This is gonna be a long comment I’m sorry in advance lol

First of all, not Journee. Huge no.

Second of all, is it supposed to be Evie, or Eve and you accidentally put an extra E? If it’s Evie, please just spell it Evie if you use it.

Third of all, since Jade, Wren, and Fern are short and sweet, they’d make nice middle names.

Some alternate suggestions:

Marigold, nn Goldie, Blossom, Hazel, Primrose, Olive, Rosemary, Noelle, Willow, Iris, Juniper, Sage, Magnolia, nn Maggie, Laurel, Ivy, Heather

Pairings:

Summer Jade, Poppy Noelle, Evie Sage, Marigold Noelle, Heather Iris, Laurel Wren, Magnolia Wren, Rosemary Willow, Juniper Sage, Olive Noelle, Ivy Jade, Primrose Noelle, Willow Iris, Blossom Fern, Iris Fern, Hazel Fern, Sage Marigold, Noelle Sage, Winter Sage, Meadow Noelle, Flora Marigold

Your the second person I've seen here suggest the name Sylvie. I really really like that name a lot! This is a great list

Wren is in my top 3, love that name!

4
Burdensome_Banshee•

I'm a big fan of Wren! Sadly our last name, and the middle name we'd use for a girl, are both 1 syllable, too. Three 1 syllable names doesn't sound the best to me.

5
Critical_Dog_8208•

Consider Kathryn nn Ryn.

3
Sbuggg13OP•

Me too! I wish my husband liked it as much as I do. He thinks it sounds "too harsh" haha. It's weird how different people perceive the same names.

2
Elfaphant•

Also in my top ten! Love it.

Juno

Winter nn Winnie and Summer are simultaneously timeless and cool.

A few you didn’t mention that might be a fit:

Iris

Daphne

Dove

Gaia

Lake

Briar

Nigella

Grey

  • Daisy

I know Daisy gets a lot of hate for seeming sort of childish, girly, ditsy but I think it deserves a revival and rebrand!

Sky/Skye/Skylar, River, Autumn, Laurel, Willow, Ivy, Clover, Juniper, Heather

Magnolia is a favorite of mine. I’ve also had the names Maple and January grow on me.

Willow
