Best way to get exotics fast? [Spoilers for Exodus endgame]

Spoiler

What's the best way to get exotics quickly?

I've been having a nice game as the Exodus faction, and having researched everything I need have found out that the last tech requires 500 exotics. This was a bit surprising as my current supply of exotics is all of 4. I would be fine fighting alien fleets to get exotics the long and hard way, but at this point the game is starting to hit the specs of my computer and slowing down a lot. I've invested so much time into this Exodus game at this point that I don't want to abandon it now that I know everything I'll need to succeed, so I'm down to cheese the shit out of the end to get what I need.

Any suggestions?

Look for fleets with motherships in them and hunt them down. Can get 200+ exotics from a single mothership. The ships that deliver armies to Earth ("assault"-something?) should also award a lot of exotics. You also get exotics from destroying alien buildings on Earth, after the Servants build them.

This hurts to hear, as I've managed to kill a few motherships but not take down the whole fleet. I knew I should've capped that last annoying cruiser!

New beta patch (hasn't been rolled to live yet) has whoever concedes first forgo salvage rights.

Bless the devs for their understanding and brilliance!

Is there any way to get beta version?

Pretty sure just right click game > properties > beta, enable beta.

Be aware that there's some negative responses to the beta right now, because it changes how unlock rolls happen. Right now whenever you complete a tech, you get a roll to see if you discover a new tech in that category. Patch changes it so that you only get a roll to discover techs that the completed one was a pre-req for. So complete reactor I, you can roll for reactor II; but not just anything.

A mini patch fixed it so that the core paths aren't gated off, but you're likely going to be more reliant on stealing tech from AI.

Ya... they better make the AI concede if the last alien ship is crippled without power and floating away at speed...

Pretty sure if the ship is more then 2000km away it’s viewed to be out of combat and will auto concede.

A Total War style autoresolve would be helpful, here.

Ugh, finally. I just fought a large battle (15 alien ships including a mothership) and a single destroyer raced away from the battle, causing it to end in a "draw" and no salvage.

I know that feel, man.

If servants are allowed to go up their tech tree, then they can build alien structures. Apparently alien structures are solid sources of exotics. But everyone bullies the servants into the ground, so they tend to deny the exotic source.

Otherwise: Motherships are generally highest source. You'll get as many exotics as the aliens are actually putting into their ships: not all ships will have exotic tech, as they have their own economy to deal with. We should be seeing more ships with exotics, as there was an issue where the AI would overvalue just constantly producing assault carriers, which are very time and resource intensive.

ED: Tagging u/oVeteranGray to answer their question as well.

Alien structures are like 3 exotics each... Fine for making a little spare cash but it's a slog to get to 500 that way

To be fair I spent a decade in game chasing down ships and destroying them and basically wiped out the aliens and didn't get enough exotics due to the crap drops and way battles work.

I just ended up modding my save as I essentially felt like I won. Shame really... But I guess it's early access!

Yeah. The beta build makes it so whoever concedes battle first forgoes salvage rights, and all alien ships provide a minimum of 0.1 exotic. So it’s making progress.

One of the big exotic sources that doesn’t get used often is alien structures on earth - servants tend to get bullied into oblivion so don’t start deploying them.

Yes... I think inhd a slight bugged save as the aliens dropped their aggression and the servants were pathetic and never put structures down.

There were actually - 100000 funds and its costs 500 per structure.

Edit the save file.

How the fuck is that part of the win condition?!

If you can take the fight to the aliens and gather that many exotics you might as well fucking finish the fight because you clearly have the firepower!

I agree. I shot down just as many alien ships playing exodus as I did playing Humanity First.

You sound be able to mine very small amounts of exotics from the Kuiper belt, seeing as space mining fits with the whole exodus shtick.

It'll give players a reason to colonise the Kuiper belt too. As it stands there is not reason to go out there

Maybe there should be a tech to produce exotics and or a tech to replace exotics with cost prohibitive amounts of all other rescues. Something like enough to build a warship for one exotic.

LEO stations, had 4 layered defenses except 1 station (3 layered), defended by 2 PD escorts. Manually had them stay in middle of station so all PDs covered each other til mother ship went down and at least 1 ship survived. Green lasers and rail gun researched, 2036.
