Playtime
Should I work? or should I play?
They said “you’ll grow up some day”
But as these days just waste away,
It seems like it’s all work no play.
Is it normal to feel this way?
A playful soul tucked away
In a world that says to work all day
Work and work and work away
And then there will be time for play
But when I am to work all day
I fear the play has gone away
For good you say? For good they say.
“We told you you’d grow up one day”
And now it’s gone and slipped away
And how I miss it every day
The days where I could sit and play.
. . . . .
I wish that it was not this way
But the play won’t pay a wage
So I am locked up in this cage
Because I’m not the one who is to gauge
What should and should not pay a wage
So I hope it’s just a stage
A stage that will just fade away
And maybe one day will be the day
That I don’t have to work that day
No more work only play
But until I see that day
It’s work and work and work away
