Those of you with Rytm/Digitone/Analog 4…. Any good reason to pick up a Syntakt?

I know there’s a lot of overlap, but I also can’t help but pine for the syntakt. I already have the Rytm/DT/A4, so I’m pretty set. Someone convince me to get or not to get the syntact!

I have Model:Samples and Digitone, and the Syntakt was an easy YES for me. Having an analog synth, filter, and effects unit in an Elektron box was the main draw for me. The whole digital side is just bonus points.

If I had the Model:Cycles, Rytm, or Analog Heat I think I would have felt the overlap and been less impressed. Since the Syntakt lacks polyphony and sampling, it actually meshed perfectly with my two boxes.

DT/DN/A4 here and....no.

I bought the Syntakt and sold it almost right away to fund the A4. Plus, i didn't find anything really exciting about that box.

Dang, that's fairly convincing. I think it might just be too much overlap. Maybe should wait until they do some type of wavetable synth in the takt format. That would give me something unique to pine after. It does feel like a hybrid mix of A4/DT/Rytm, which would be great if I didnt' already own all 3 of those lol

I think it's a cool box but in your case you're not gonna get anything new, especially if you already own the AR.

I liked the analog tracks (that's why it made me want to buy an A4 instead), the Claps are the best i've ever heard but the rest was really meh.... I was kinda disappointed by the Toy machine, Chord machine and Bit machine.

And apart from a couple of new filter types, there's nothing you can do with the Syntakt that you or I can't do with DN/AR/DT/A4.

You'd better save your money for something really complementary with what you already have.

Personally, it's gonna be the OT as soon as i can and i might get rid of the DT in the process...

I have an A4+DN and sold my Rytm to buy the ST. My personal reasons being that I LOVE the AR sounds (particularly Kick, Snare, Rimshots and DualVCO machines) but prefer the Digi-workflow by a lot. Working with the AR felt like having to work (setting up my kit and macros) before I can play, while the ST just lets me play while retaining my favorite analog machines from the AR.

In your case, if you already have the AR / DT and are happy with them, it would seem like your percussion needs are covered.
