Untitled- revised but still rough :)
I was just another book to you
Another story you will never finish
The plot too complex for you to manage
I wasn’t easy enough to understand
With too many thoughts whirling in my pages
Like the glitter in a shaken snow globe
/
You could not keep up with the plot in my head
So, before the climax of our story
The covers are united with a kiss
Forever locked in a sweet embrace
Never to be pried apart by you again
/
The very idea of you and I
Is driven to the depths of your mind
I am a faded memory now
Like a ghost you ignore
Too faint to remember or see
/
I am just another book to you
Your last kind thought though
Was donating me to the corner op shop
But here I sit amongst the other books
With their dusty covers and sad stories
Wondering if you might come back
/
My title becomes more faded with each month that passes
My spine becomes mildewed and stiff
So even if I were to be picked up again
The struggle to find out what my story entails
Would make even the most curious of minds
Give up and find a newer book
/
Maybe someone will pick me up soon
And despite how hard it is to open me
They will battle against my stiff spine
If only to just learn my name
And to maybe get a glimpse of my plot
/
Though I fear that I will be set back upon the shelf
Damned to the moths that eat my paper
And as the clock continues to tick
Although the fear grows deeper into my pages
The very last page remains untainted
For it holds my hope that one day
Someone will pick me up and read to the end.
