Serspent

Poem

I’d pour my heart out if the vase weren’t already broken

Keep my quirks lurking, though I’m already a monster

Sister golden hair, but I’ve made myself the brother

Itching my arm from where this truth already poked me.

Further down the rabbit hole my rabbit mind crept

Winding like serpents, where the serpent past lived

Pursing my lips, half grimace, half smile

Looking down from the cliff where my brittle heart leapt

Tongues twisted in remorse, forced thoughts stick in your throat

Pen stabs my gut, like murder, she wrote

Grit my teeth till they’re filed down to points

What’s the point in being human, when decency’s extinct?
