You Were Not Thesseus

Poem

You shed your self
Like a cat sheds its winter coat
Bit by bit

But you were not as Thesseus
Or his ship
You dissappeared with every piece
Until you where wholly new
And I could not recognize you

And so
Even as I mourned you
When you passed
I came to see
That you were long since gone

And that I mourned in truth
Not only your final leaving
But that you were
Once and for all
Beyond the return
I had long awaited

----------------------------

In loving memory
