precisely! to love is to act, that's why it can also be platonic! you show with your actions that love is a gift to be given!

thank you for your simple poem, it made me smile!

Your concept is strong and you have images that are good to execute that concept, but I think your
language and composition are keeping that concept from being fully realized. Rather than capitalizing on and developing one or two of the images you list, you instead list them off one after the other without really diving into how any of them convey your message.

The individual lines of the poem feel long from the excess of words they contain. For example, “you give them things you like because they love them, on purpose” is both wordy and vague. What are “things you like?” You’ve used 12 words that don’t really add anything because there are no specifics. Imagine the effect of you said something like “I brought her a wishing stone so she could press it to her lips…” This brings definition to the picture. Specific details make the people feel more real.

I noticed as I read the current iteration that you explicitly state your message about 5 times in some way or another. That combine

This is beautiful. Shows the laying down of ones desires for another. Choosing them over yourself. Nicely written and kudos for being one of the ones who understands it. Tiny critique: take out the word "is" in the 3rd line after intentional. May flow a little better. Nicely done! Really like it!

Hello readers, welcome to OCpoetry. This subreddit is a writing workshop community -- a place where poets of all skill levels can share, enjoy, and talk about each other's poetry. Every person who's shared, including the OP above, has given some feedback (those are the links in the post) and hopes to receive some in return (from you, the readers).

If you really enjoyed this poem and just want to drop a quick comment, to show some appreciation or give kudos, things like "great job!" or "made me cry", or "loved it" or "so relateable", please do. Everyone loves a compliment. Thanks for taking the time to read and enjoy.

If you want to share your own poem, you'll need to give this writer some detailed feedback. Good feedback explains from your point of view what it was like to read the poem, and then tries to explain how the poem made you feel like that. I love this one! Beautifully written.
Reminds me of Erich Fromms philosophy on how love is an art you practice instead of something that "just happens".

This is beautiful.. thank you for sharing this. I’m now thinking that this is the best thing about love for me… the good intentions. Although, it’s hard to believe it doesn’t happen by circumstance or accident.. when they left without closing any chApters. Love this poem! Good iob

Don't you do those things after you've fallen in love? I do these things bc I care. But being in love is beyond caring. This one falls short for me, sorry. Plain language + incorrect take IMO
