What is this hole, and why is melted PLA coming out of it?

Is your nozzle tight enough?
Exactly what it was thank you.
Ayyy, glad to help.
I'll check.
You should put your nozzle on when it's cold, snug it up, and then heat it up to about 60C and you'll see that it needs to be tightened up a little bit more once it's up to temperature. Sometimes people forget to retighten it once it gets up to temperature and it can cause some problems, just don't forget to tighten it when it's at temperature as well.
You should be tightening much hotter than 60C. You should tighten at a few degrees higher than your usual printing temp.
Will do.
Are you sure it's PLA? Mine had something like Silastic on it from the factory. Just a guess.
Set screw for the heater. Pla shouldn't come out of it.
PLA is blobbing out of it. It's weird.
Install the nozzle, then install the heat break
