Real life experiences with foam mattresses?

Discussion

Heya, I need a new mattress and I'm looking for real reviews on mattress in a box type ones.

Have you used a Winkl, Ecosa or Emma-sleep type mattress?

How was it? Pros and Cons?

The online reviews give me a fake feeling and I want to know the truth

I’ve been on an ecosa for the last 3 years. No problems, but I love a good firm mattress.

So do I, thank you for your feedback

Went with a Winkl last year and would 100% recommend. Delivery was super quick and they have a 3 month risk-free trial period if you're unsure. It's hands down the best mattress I've ever had, super comfortable and supportive.

I’ve got a Winkl. The reviews are probably genuine. It‘s awesome, so comfortable , no more back and neck pain in the mornings.

Cons: I have the thicker one, you have to get deep-wall fitted sheets, which aren’t as common, but available.

Thanks! I just found it strange that a mattress from one company has 16k reviews, but the back support version from the same company has 600 odd reviews.

Small con but definitely worth noting!

The reviews do sound a bit too good to be true. But I can’t disagree with them. It’s easily the best mattress I have ever had.

Same got an Emma, had it for 10 months now and it has been bliss! It is more among the lines of firm but soft

I got mine in a sale on their site last year and i've had no issues with it.

They currently have a sale so I'm tempted!

They always have a sale. And referral codes too I think. Check out the choicecheapies site.

I bought a no name memory foam mattress from trade me in 2014. It's starting to get slightly softer where I sleep, but it's still good.

I recon when it's time for a new one, I'll get one of those three brands.

Since you get 100/120 days to try it, there is no harm anyway!

It is a good trial period as I assume I would want to use it for at least a week before getting accustomed to it

I bought a Winkl (the standard one, not the Luxe) almost 2 years ago. It's super comfy, not too soft, and definitely worth trying out.

Longevity-wise, if you're not a fat bastard like me, you'll be fine. So was I for about the first year, but now it's got quite the dip in it. They have a 10year warranty but the dip has to be more than 2.5cm and the weight limit is 140kg per side. I'm just waiting for it to get there before I make my claim, because although I'm a fat bastard, I'm not that much of a fat bastard.

Still don't regret buying it - considering the price of sprung mattresses, it's totally worthwhile.

I've had two years with an Ecosa - I like it and find it really comfortable, but it can get hot.

Have you tried changing the layers around? I believe one layer has gel in it to help cool the body

I haven't, but I believe rearranging them only adjusts the firmness. The default "setting" is surprisingly firm, it must be said.

I've got one. Would never buy another bed again.

We have ecosa and really happy with it! I sleep well without even a pillow on it occasionally. My husband has hip issues and our old mattress was leaving him waking up sore, no such issues anymore.

Tbh I also love how easy it is to clean, like you don't get that with a normal mattress. That we can pull it apart, wash the two layers of covers and air all the foam layers out is great.

ecosa is good, but be prepared for a sore back for the first few nights

I've got a Koala mattress, which I really like, but they no longer sell them in NZ.
One thing I didn't realise when I bought it was they need a solid base.
I just used it on my old sprung base, which felt fine at first but over time it started sagging and I'd wake up with a sore back every morning.
Once I replaced the base with a non-sprung one it went back to being really comfortable.

I bought a winkl delux less than 2 months ago. Not hard enough for my liking and actually is quite soft. The pillow on the other hand is too firm. But here's the thing for me, i'm not a hot sleeper by any stretch, but fuck me, I am absolutely melting on that mattress and it's not even summer yet.

I love my Emma. I didn't think I was a "firm mattress" person but it's the perfect balance of firm and memory foamy goodness. Wouldn't go back to a regular mattress.

Had an ecosa for 3 years. Can't go back. Feels unusual the first two nights but you very quickly get used to it. Definitely beats my old 3-tonne spring mattress.

Winkl for a year and love it. Think it was like a grand which is so much cheaper than a decent spring mattress
