On my first playthrough and I gotta say this

SpoilerDiscussion

Jackie's ofrenda really choked me up, as a fellow Latino I felt connection with him as a character, and I could really see him as a friend. When I say Jackie die I actually cried a bit, and at the ofrenda I actually felt like I lost a friend (not real amounts of grief and sadness, but still sad nonetheless). What was you guy's reaction to Jackie's ofrenda (if you went to it)?

The events surrounding Jackie’s death made me realize cp77 was an actual mature video game with actual adult themes beyond sex.

"It'll be like Fallout new vegas, right?.....right?"

Toasty-Wyvern•

I mean when fonv came out it was beyond buggy and people consider it the best fallout game I'm sure in a few years cyberpunk2077 will be remembered similarly

15
Fluffybunnykitten•

I mean… some of the plot points remind me of new Vegas

10
AshtrayGrande•

The main plot is about you knicking a chip from an old rich bastard and then being shot in the head

If you want his blinged out guns, wait a day and go back to the bar and they’ll be on the table.

ihearthz•

It’s crime that we cant dual wield jackie’s guns

61
AwkwardCake72•

I wish that we could dual wield pistols. Maybe lock it behind a strength requirement or something so it's not too op

30
NiSiSuinegEhtTechnomancer from Alpha Centauri•

I'd go with Reflexes and make it a higher end perk on the Handguns tree.

35
Tnecniw•

Reflex for aiming. Not body.

4
p-rezident•

I always left one on the table for this reason

5
ihearthz•

dammit i should've done that. i guess i can use one and have one displayed in my stash at the same time haha

biddierepellentStreetkid•

Honestly a missed opportunity. First playthrough when I saw both guns I thought I the game was introducing dual wielding, imagine my disappointment. 😭

Thanks, man 👍🏻

Anytime brotha, honour your late choom by zeroing some gonks with them ;)

11
MrSarcastica•

Always annoyed me that you can't dual wield like he did.

9
uruzu03•

I left his guns because taking them felt wrong. Also, I was a mantis blade cyberpsycho.

5
Machismo_malo•

Jackie would want you to have them choom.

8
ene_due_rabe•

Thanks, I've thought I was the only one that left those guns. It's a game, but come on... ;)

5
MeowthThatsRite•

I usually take one of them, since you can’t use both at the same time anyway. That way I’ve got a piece my my boy with me to see everything through to the end.

3
depression_quirkCorpo•

I took one and left the other for his mother. I now have some gut wrenching fanfic in the works where she gives V the gun to look forward to.

His pistols are breathtaking.

*It should be noted that they only appear if you chose to send his body back to his mother. If you sent his body to Vik's or left him in the car, his body will be taken by Arasaka.

1
MeowthThatsRite•

Yee I figured that was implied since the post is about the ofrenda, but thanks for the clarification!

Dixie-Chink2nd Amendment•

I felt really touched by the offrenda and his death as well. It's a well-done scene.

58
Suspicious_WatrmelonOP•

It was amazingly written, I felt choked up riding Jackie's bike through night city, didn't get any better when "I really want to stay at your house" started playing

38
BlueSuffragetteNomad•

I was shocked when he died--I totally didn't expect it--and I actually teared up at his ofrenda. In subsequent playthroughs I was able to look at the scene and study how it was put together, what made it so effective, but the first time I was literally in tears. It's very well done.

50
trowawa1919•

His eyes as he passes... Literal goosebumps

21
BigSteppaBandz•

I wear the same contacts as a tribute after he goes

2
BannedByDiscord•

I felt like I was just getting to know him as a character and suddenly it all got taken away. Wasn’t prepared to lose my choom so early in the game. Felt really bummed out and empty afterwards.

32
Messyfingers•

As soon as he talked about doing things with Misty AFTER the heist it threw up the red flags for me. but even then it still shocked me

13

I was really moved by it because when I played the first time when it came out I friend of mine who was kinda like Jackie has killed himself and then when I played the game it was like i was living it all again, I also had a similar relationship with his mother like V had with mama Welles so it hurt but it was beautiful

15
Eptalin•

I was the opposite unfortunately.

Jackie gave me big "one last job gig until retirement the big leagues" vibes, so I felt his death coming from a mile away.

The you're-now-best-friends montage also didn't sell me.

So when I got to the ofrenda, it felt really weird to be asked to speak centre stage instead of so many other way more worthy people. I felt disrespectful.

I wish the game spent more time letting us actually build our relationship with him before the heist. It would have helped that story beat land for more people.

15
Ticklemykelmo•

Not enough background. Saw it coming a mile away. His actual death was well written/illustrated, his eyes are chilling.

I'm one of the few who just doesn't like his character that much. The "hotel in Zurich" thing really convinced me he was a AA player trying to hit in the majors. It was a big let down from his badassery in All Foods.

7
Tehnizzim•

Yeah I actually think it was painfully obvious and poorly executed. Actually felt to me like they had to scrap a ton of making quest and just show horned this death scene in there.

I felt nothing, because it was pretttttty obvious Jackie was just a set up to start the real game. Which is a shame, because Silverhand sucks as a companion.

0

If you hate silverhand as a companion, why even play cyberpunk at that point?

1
Tehnizzim•

Right cuz that’s a reasonable conclusion to draw from me not liking a part of a game lol

2
tumblingdown3•

He’s not entirely off base though. 90% of the main story, and a good chunk of the side quests are literally about Johnny. And even the side quests not explicitly about him usually involve him popping up and giving comments. So if you don’t like him, then a whole bunch of the game is going to be unlikeable. I think that’s what he is saying.

1
rebecca-is-choom•

I actually didn’t have a connection with Jackie. I just didn’t feel like I was around him enough to care.

10
Gladerious•

I havent been to his ofrenda... didnt know it was a thing. I just started playing, did alot of side missions before msq and honestly feel the same. Had to stop playing after my first Johny encounter.

The moment he gave his recipe to Claire at the bar i instantly knew he was a goner, his entire anxy attitude during the whole thing was screaming death flags for me. I never felt a big connection to him, id feel worse if i Lost Viktor.

6
kamdisBakaneko •

You have to send his body to Mama Welles to get the ofrenda. If you did that, call Mama Welles back!

2
whiteday26Corpo•

At 1.6, you can tell the cab to brb wait here and cab sends him to his mom. I heard you couldn't do that in prior versions. This is the path I always take because I don't think V was expecting the plot, and needed a ride back.

2
Phontom•

I did the same, but mostly because I thought it'd be fucked up to send a car with just her son's dead body to Mama Welles.

2

Honestly same, also as a partner he proved to be quite useless, still had to kill all the gonks myself. Did he even aim bro?

2
whiteday26Corpo•

I think every partner npc in-game is useless tbh. on the upside at least they don't trigger enemy alerts.

Games like Bethesda Fallout had strong partner npc but was basically a bulldozer in a minefield when it came to sneaking around.

One of the pre release vids kind of spoiled that jackie would die so i was expecting it.

I was not expecting to care as much as i did particularly as i missed the ofrenda first playthrough.

There is another death coming that REALLY fucked me up but i wont spoil it. Hell theres more than one.

Also, try calling him periodically throughout the game...

8
GetindarobotshinjiCyberpsycho•

Broke my heart, I used his bike for the whole game even though it wasn’t the fastest. I just finished my third play through and I wish Jackie could make it to the finish line

8
sieteaneis•

to be honest as much as i love jackie i just wish we got more of him before he died. if i actually got to experience that first year with jackie i think i would’ve cried at his ofrenda given i cried at literally everything in cyberpunk 2077. the fact his death is such a big thing to v is a big disconnect and this scene doesn’t really land with me because i didn’t really know him. the feeling of disconnection especially sets in when you speak to misty before his ofrenda she’s supposed to be jealous that v got to know the real jackie when in all reality i learned more about jackie going through his garage after his death than i ever got to when he was alive :(

8
airbiscuits33•

I just did that mission on my second playthrough. Happy I got to experience it this time.

6
Actraiser87Technomancer from Alpha Centauri•

Same. It was pretty sad that he died so early on in the story. I understand why but still sucks.

5
beameup19•

I honestly didn’t like Jackie the character at all but the ofrenda was really nice and touching

5
that1LPdood•

Regardless of how silly my playthrough is, every time that scene comes around, I feel like I have to take it seriously and I try to find the items and things to say that I think best represent and honor him. RIP Jackie, you were the truest friend and a great choom.

3
mhg007•

I think he died just too soon. That short time that you can interact with him is nice but I didn't feel that connected to him to feel sad or affected by his death. Maybe if we could play through how V and Jackie became friends instead of just a short cutscene it would have been different.

3
TelemichusRhadeNever Fade Away, Jackie•

I was a little annoyed you couldn't share around that bottle of his you pickup at his garage before hand, ya know the one of really expensive stuff he was saving.

They get you to pickup a good few things to use at the wake and then you end up only able to use like 3 of them in the end.

I'd have liked to have visited his mom a bit more after as well, seems like they only give you one meeting and one phone call with related unique dialogue and thats it. You're kinda cut off from then on.

The game is definitely a lot more grey and lifeless after Jackie is gone.

3
KatoFW•

Bro it’s like I tell all my friends we don’t get a lot of representation in main characters as Hispanic men, and these fucks had to go and make me love Jackie and David, and took both of them away. RIP chooms

3
VanDraninator•

I pretty much felt nothing as I already knew he was going to die from the cinematic shown over a year prior to the games release which was a bit crap lol

Even then though, I never really felt attached to him as there is little interaction with him in the prologue other than you know he is a good friend. I still think he would have turned on V for his own gain at any point if he did survive.
