All Friday the 13th and Nightmare on Elm Street movies ranked
So, I finished watching the Friday the 13th Remake today, and it was the last movie of both franchises that I had to watch, so I'm gonna rank them both now. Why am I ranking them all together? Because I don't want to do two rankings, and also because I want to be different. Without further ado:
20: Friday the 13th Part VIII:Jason Takes Manhattan
I don't think I need to explain why. This movie is so bad, that it's bad. It has some moments, but even those aren't enough to save it.
19: Nightmare on Elm Street (2010)
I don't hate this movie because it made Freddy a pedo, but I don't like it because of it either. At least it has some original stuff, like an ending better than the original's, Freddy's voice, the idea of Freddy being innocent, etc., which puts it above Jason Takes Manhattan
18: Jason Goes to Hell: The Final Friday
Jason Goes to Hell is mostly boring, especially since Kane Hodder isn't in it for most of the time. It does have some good gore, though.
17: Friday the 13th Part III
This movie is so boring, and it's just the same thing all over again.
16: A Nightmare on Elm Street 5: Dream Child
This movie is mostly nonsensical and boring, and it has just 3 kills (but they're all great, tbh).
15: Friday the 13th: A New Beginning
Mostly boring with some moments of "so bad, it's good".
14: A Nightmare on Elm Street 2: Freddy's Revenge
This movie feels to weird for a Nightmare sequel. The dreams aren't that crazy, Freddy isn't that funny, and overall, it just feels like it's trying to be like the first one
13: Freddy's Dead: The Final Nightmare
This is how you do a "so bad, it's good" movie. But it's still meant to be good, and it isn't.
12: Friday the 13th (1980)
It's a very boring movie, but it was very important for slasher movies in general.
11: Jason X
It's a dumb and fun movie, but maybe it's just a little bit too dumb.
10: A Nightmare on Elm Street 4: Dream Master
Tuesday Knight and mirror death aside, this is actually a good sequel
9: Friday the 13th Part VII: The New Blood
It's so fun to see Kane Hodder in the best Jason design ever fighting a Carrie ripoff.
8: Friday the 13th (2009)
This movie has everyth
7: Friday the 13th: The Final Chapter
Aside from the best gore in the franchise (except for FvJ) and a great Jason, this movie is just the same old thing. Still, one of the better Friday movies.
6: Friday the 13th Part II
I really like Part II, mostly because of the best characters in the franchise, and it's also very interesting to see Jason with a sack on his head.
5: Freddy vs Jason
I loved Freddy vs Jason. I don't care that the characters sucks and that it makes no sense, I came to see blood, and that's what I got.
4: A Nightmare on Elm Street (1984)
Probably my most unpopular opinion, but the original Nightmare is not the best in my opinion. I love it, but the ending still makes no sense.
3: Wes Craven's New Nightmare
I love New Nightmare. It's just so meta. Also, it's an infinite loop. And the callbacks are just so great.
2: A Nightmare on Elm Street 3: Dream Warriors
Dream Warriors is so amazing. I love the Dream Warriors themselves, the crazy dreams and crazy deaths, Nancy Thompson is back, and Patricia Arquette hasn't been replaced yet, and it's just so much fun.
1: Friday the 13th Part VI: Jason Lives
Come on, it's Jason Lives. It doesn't have the nudity and gore of most Friday movies, but that allows it to experiment more, and boy, does it work. It's funny, it's meta, and an amazing movie all around.

I cannot cosign this Jason Takes Manhattan slander. Admittedly I have a high nostalgia for that movie, but it is one of the richest films in fuzzy horror absurdity of all-time.
Julius being the only character in history to square up to Jason and box him while Jason takes all of it, gives an almost respectful head nod and delivers the Mortal Kombat uppercut. Jason electing not to ether the disrespectful kids and taking his mask off to show his zombiness instead. The deli owner wagging a finger in Jason's face and calling him a SOB right after Jason kicks through his business doors.
Perfect horror cheese outside of the fact that the boat action took WAY too long (albeit that had to do with budget constraints).
I totally agree with your feelings on Takes Manhattan. IMO its become the easy go to when people discuss bad Jason movies. Sure, they're on a boat most of the movie, but so what. There are some amazing kills in this one. I love the cokehead girl getting chocked on the dance floor and tossed like a ragdoll and the uncle getting drowned in sewage...brutal!
Jason Goes To Hell falls into that boat for me too. That movie is fun as hell, from beginning to end. Jason looks great and again, brutal and quite disgusting kills and scenes. Of all the Fridays, i personally like Manhattan and Hell the best.
Ranking the two series is difficult but I'll say that again, IMO, there isn't a Friday the 13th movie in the series thats better than any Elm Street film, except Freddys Dead and the remake, which isnt really a Freddy movie to me.
Yeah, once they get to NY the movie gets pretty good, but that ending though. Also, fun fact: the chef that Jason throws at a mirror is played by Ken Kirzinger, who played Jason in FvJ.
