Visiting the alps for the first time!

My friend and I will be traveling to Switzerland for 3 days in November from Karlsruhe, Germany and we are trying to figure out what is the best base city to stay in the alp region. Since we are not staying for long we want to stay somewhere that will allow us to see as many things as possible without traveling too far. We are primarily looking to hike and sightsee.

We were thinking about Lauterbrunnen, would that be a good option? We're also open to any recommendations for what to see this time of the year as well!
