New Emoji

Question

It wouldn't be fair to say I bought a new phone specifically for Emoji 14, but it wouldn't be fair to say it didn't factor into my decision, either. I want to use the finger-pointing-at-viewer emoji (🫵) but my Xperia 1 IV running the latest software and SwiftKey doesn't display it.

What gives? SwiftKey's website makes out like it's relying on the Android installation, but I'm running Android 12, which should have Emoji 14.
Stupid question I know and it shouldn't matter but it does. Has anyone else run into this?

That sounds like a SwiftKey issue. Even my Gboard has been late to the game compared to the in-app emoji picker in messaging apps.

Fwiw, even the OnePlus 6 on A11 that I'm typing this on can see 🫵 and write 🫵.

Viewing your post on my phone shows the character as a box with an X in it, so I don't think it is, unfortunately.

Strange for it to be so behind! Well, at least we're getting A13 right away. Hopefully that'll fix it.

I also had forgotten I've installed an Emoji update pack on my rooted device, so that might be why I'm seeing it. But still strange the 1 IV wouldn't have what other phones have had for the past year.

Update: the character doesn't display when I view this post on my phone, so it isn't a keyboard issue. Now I'm truly confused.

Download GBoard. Swiftkey is child's play next to GBoard.
