Nero 2015 CD/DVD Burning Software

Hi! I had to install Nero for a USB CD/DVD drive I bought (not using it to burn anything, just to play CDs and DVDs). I installed it right off of the included CD. I am using Windows 10, and since it is a Surface, it had no included CD/DVD drive.

The other day, an ad popped up at the bottom of my desktop, and when I hovered over it, it said Nero. My computer has also been oddly sluggish today too.

I read on some Windows forums that this is common and to uninstall Nero Info. Is this correct? Another website said something called Nero and Options is some type of adware. Is that related to this Nero? My computer seemed to speed up immediately after the uninstall.

Essentially, is Nero legit, what is Nero and Options, and is there anything else I should be doing to ensure I don't have an infected computer. I have run a couple of McAfee virus scans and a Malware Bytes (free version) scan.
