Where is everybody? Part 2 from a regular

As a regular poster here I found the post about this really informative! It was a definite moment of self reflection for someone posting about this stuff on the internet. As that OP stated diversity matters, a diversity of opinion matters. That post was the most diverse discussion in recent memory! From that multitude of voices came a much clearer picture. It's pretty wild when you suddenly get a bigger mirror.

A lot of people made what I consider very good points about the sub. I think sharawadji really nailed aspects of it. He makes the point, and I think I would do well to consider myself, if people here may not act in such a way as to discourage discussion and engagement. Through dogmatic, narrow mindedness. "I KNOW what JK taught about this and you're about to hear it!". He accurately describes seeing "fields of battle instead of fields of ideas". Isn't that what's going on when I want you to see things as I see them? When I carry a bitter rivalry? When I know things and I'm gonna tell you? Sharawadji's conclusion seems to be that its simply too toxic to participate, and maybe better to observe.

Personally I (obviously) really enjoy the K subreddit, even though it can be super frustrating for days. I don't think the above descriptions entirely encapsulate the sub, but are they the norm? Every once in a while a really awesome conversation will pop up. There are some nice, sincere people that post from time to time. With a couple of them here I learned that I can mimic teachings very readily if I'm doing anything other than learning about myself and not restating something I think I read or felt once. So I like the place, I've seen it work and would like to continue to, or at least not be the antithesis of his work.

So a field of ideas or a field of battle?
