I really fucking hate the concept of "aesthetics"

My hot take is that having a dumb title that defines you such as "goth girl" "egirl" "clean girl" "asian babygirl" is so detrimental to society and dating. It's literally allowed people to move through life completely devoid of a personality and people encourage it because it makes them easy to pigeon hole someone into a category.

I'm seriously sick of girls being proud that they fall under those arbitrary categories kasi parang proud pa sila na wala silang personality. The "personality" they have is tied to how they present themselves and poses no actual challenge to get to know them kasi once you get to know one of them, you get to know all of them. They listen to the same things, they watch the same movies, they even wear the same clothes and I find it so boring to interact with them kasi they literally offer nothing new. A group of them can talk to me and I don't even have to get to know all of them. Just one. They probably all listen to the same artists, watch the same shows, like the same kind of men, shop at the same store. They're like lemmings.

And men celebrate this and somehow reduce their type to an "aesthetic" and god forbid they meet someone who doesn't fit into those boxes, who actually had nuance and isn't wearing their pre-made personality lightroom preset through their fucking skin. They're labeled as boring, hard to read. Sometimes, you can't even get matches on dating apps cause even if you and the dude are into the same things or you're what they're looking for dating wise, you don't fall into the "aesthetic" he's into and that's totally ridiculous because it just proves that men don't like women but the concept of women.

It's so funny because the boys and girls that subscribe to this way of thinking napaka hilig manawag ng basic sa people who have different presentations than them when literally their whole personality is downloaded from the internet. A xerox of a xerox.

I'm a staunch believer in self expression through clothing and art and people should wear whatever the fuck they want. But I don't like celebrating mediocrity and i'm tired of aesthetics taking the place of actual character nuance. I want to actually get to know people not concepts.

EDIT: oh no ayan na yung pick me girl comments omg yes guys sana piliin ako pick me choose me love me gusto ko ako yung piliin because i'm such a star and i want so bad to be unique hahahaha it's so offensive kasi pag sainyo sinabi because you wanna be so cool and edgy and being a pick me is an insult lmao touch some grass
