The Redondo Beach Police Department’s Cold Case Unit is requesting assistance from the public in identifying the item depicted in the below photographs.

This item was recovered inside a plastic bag along with human remains. Also in the bag was what appeared to be severely deteriorated pieces of either rubber or canvass. It is possible, though not certain, that material was attached in some manner to the portion seen in the photos, perhaps forming a “bladder” or “bag”. Again, that is speculation and not definitive. For reference, the central part of this item, in black, is approximately 2”X2”, so not very big. The threaded “nipple” portion seems to be an intake or outlet for either air or water and the white fabric is approximately ½” inch wide and passes through the black material as seen in the second photo.

Investigators have not been able to identify the item.
