I aggressively stare down every car until I know 100% that they’re stopping. Just takes getting hit once to form that habit lol. You might be in the right, but it’ll still hurt if they keep driving

fr I avoid eye contact while crossing this intersection for this exact reason 💀

It’s literally scary 😫 people get so mad when ur trying to cross like sorry 😐😐😐

There are a few intersections in Davis that should really have stop signs. Whenever I drive through this intersection Im super careful because a lot of people just assume there is a stop sign.

You just have to walk out and make them stop unfortunately lol. And it’s so dangerous when a car is turning east onto 2nd because the cars going south blindly speed through as if there isn’t a major blind spot.

Tried to cross it today, and it was almost impossible, plus cars fly by

There is a stop sign at 2nd and B, just not a 4-way stop.

I spend hours a day moving around downtown and never cross B at 2nd, I just go to 3rd and cross at the light. That intersection is like playing frogger with your life.

Just turn downtown into a game of frogger.

B street is a truck route and the major thoroughfare for downtown. That intersection should stay the way it is, and honestly maybe even get rid of the crosswalk on the north side of 1st and B

Quick note for those that may be confused: 2nd St. and B St. are not UC Davis property. That's City of Davis (https://www.cityofdavis.org/city-hall/public-works). They take feedback on these topics here: pwetweb@cityofdavis.org .

Personally, I almost never cross there except on Saturday mornings when traffic is pretty minimal. I always plan my route to cross B St. at Russell or 3rd St. Much more predictable.

Would probably be an interesting study if the city (or school) surveyed traffic incidents involving pedestrians at 2nd and B then compared it to other major intersections in Downtown to see if it’s really a more hazardous crossing

i always slow down at that intersection because of the massive blind spot, but regardless i think it should remain the same because B street is a thoroughfare. maybe a speed bump but even that’s pushing it. another stop sign means far more congestion.

The main issue is all of the new drivers in Davis, and the fact that people either drive too slow, too fast, or with their ego. way too many cars for such a small area

I’m not saying it’s not abad idea because it’s not, but with how heavy traffic is there, it’s gonna back up downtown worse than it already gets

That intersection is also super scary if you're trying to turn and you're on the side with the stop sign. It looks like it should be a 4-way stop but it's not so people think others are going to stop when they don't.

Yeah! The other day I almost got hit by a car when biking and the driver was mad instead of saying sorry or something

Idk about you but I am VERY grateful for the 2 new speed tables they put along L street a few months ago

Yea they do, they just put speed bumps where people don’t want them

Nah, City of Davis doesn’t have enough money

Can we PLEASE put a stop sign on 2nd and B st
