Update: Due to tap not going through, I'm going to need more money than I thought the first semester.

I have my first donor, anything helps! Thank you for your support!

Update: I have decided on Elmira College.

I met with financial aid and all of my tuition is covered for the first year. I'm about $900 short for tuition, the admission deposit, and I'll have to pay for books. Additionally I will have to pay to live off campus.

The second year I will need to pay some tuition due to loans being maxed out and lack of the PTK scholarship I have towards the first year.

I have been offered undergraduate research opportunities in a field I'm interested in.

I'm planning on going for Environmental Science with a minor in Legal Studies. Combined with my business credits and the Pre-Law program, I'm considering Environmental and Patent Law.

My name is LaTawnya Edick. I am 27 years old and I have been trying to finish my college degree since graduating high school.

After graduating high school my adopted parents due to having many children could not afford to help me pay for college.

I took out loans I graduated Cum Lauda and recieved my A.A.S. from Corning Community College in Business administration. I was the first person in my birth family to recieve a college degree.

I then went on to attend SUNY Cortland while working 3 jobs. After my marriage ended, I became homeless and could no longer attend. I have become stuck in a cycle of homelessness and unable to finish my degree.

My federal loans are almost maxed out and I have no one to cosign on a loan for me.

So far I have gotten into RIT for economics, University of Buffalo for Environmental Studies, Elmira College's Pre-Law Program, and SUNY Potsdam 3+2 Engineering Program with Clarkson University. I will update as more come in.

As of right now, I would love to attend RIT or Elmira College, but even after receiving Merit Scholarships they are a reach.

Thank you for your support,

LaTawnya Edick
