A House store that DOESNT have closing down signs???

Live long enough and you see everything.

I'm starting to think this is advertising.

It was 80 percent off last time it pretended to close.

Wasn't it a floor clearance to do renovations?

Yep, but this almost seemed legit. When I was there last weekend, the back two thirds or more of the store was completely empty. Pretty much everything was gone, so maybe there were some renovations that took place.

Certainly wasn't closed for long though.

Our local House store said they were renovating too. My friend works there - there were NO renovations, just another marketing trick.

I don’t think it is because this same store in my area has the same signs and it’s been like that for months…

Wasn’t there a carpet or rugs place that a guy use to advertise closing down sales for like 5 years

The weekly renovations involve changing the sale signs.

It’s their 12th annual closing down sale

And I thought I'd missed my chance. Relieved.

Their idea of "renovations": Boss - "We need to make more money!" Marketing Department Employee 1: "How about we say we are renovating so people feel like they have to get in now so they don't miss out. Then, we close for a day or two, rotate the position of the stock 90 degrees in the store and open back up again!"

Marketing Department Employee 2 - "Yeah! Then, next year, we can do the same thing but just rotate it back to where is was!"

Boss - "That's a great idea! I'm promoting you both from sht kicker to associate sht kicker!"

Employee 2 - "Wow, thanks! What pay rise do we get?"

Boss - "Pay rise!?! Don't be silly, we haven't got the budget for that!" (Jumps in Mercedes and drives off)

No retail employee has ever suggested rotating stock for funsies, it's deffo a faceless exec who's done exact 15min on the floor a decade ago.

Sorry will clarify, should really be *marketing department employee. Will edit.

Boss~ Payrise? Can’t you see we are closing down?

The house store in my town actually shut down (because the whole shopping centre it was in was getting pulled down) - they opened a new one in the shopping centre right next to it - was super awkward because they couldn't have closing down signs for a while because it was a new store.

Is this shit even legal? Like I’ve never seen these types places sell shit at a regular price

5
rentrane23•

There are laws against the kind of thing they are doing, but they are technically not doing it.

They’re exploiting a loophole.

#CLOSING DOWN!!!

^for ^stocktake

Exterminatorbhg•

For the end of the day, open tomorrow.

2
KTQ_83•

Why don't they just sell good to excellent quality products at full price instead of discounted rubbish? I am so tired of shit quality goods that last a week

2
mouthbreather_v2•

It’s the Whispering Jack of shops.

jefik1•

So great to see that did make it AGAIN! 😌

1
dzyfox•

Isn't that place always closing down or going into stocktake lol

1
keskillia•

I often wonder if the Baccarat brand they have is quality product or not due to the huge price discounts.

1

It’s a “home brand” - so I would say it’s likely not really worth the full RRP they say it’s marked down from…

2
mccurleyfries:doge:•

And yet they still fool so many into buying the cheap and nasty Baccarat knives “on special”

1

200% off! Must buy special!! Today only!!!!

missjchaos•

Almost certain they've been closing down since the day they opened. I mean, technically they are one day closer to closing down every day. Lol
