ITAP of the Brooklyn Bridge

Tried taking a bit different photo from a very common place, the Brooklyn Bridge. I tried a bit of the tilt shift technique and had the opportunity to take it from the World Trade Center which helped me with the view.
Photo was taken using the Sony A7III with Tamron 35-150mm f2-2.8
I'm not sure if it's the perspective or the edits but I thought this was a miniature set at first. So it definitely is an uncommon shot. Well done!
I tried a bit of both, so yeah that was the overall ideal. I’m glad you liked, hopefully i try some more and improve on it. Thanks
It's a tilt shift. Basically blur everything around the subject from distance and it makes it look small. Best done from high angles.
Lenses that do this in camera are freaking expensive so it's easier to just do it in post lol
Same
It almost looks fake like a small model of the city
Is it just me, or could the blur use a bit more of a gradient? The transition seems a little sharp (see e.g. the building on the left).
Still though, really nice shot!
Thanks. Yeah, seems that building is the main thing I’ll fix
The tops of the 2nd bridge and the first few background buildings could also be a little sharper, to really sell the depth of field
Little boxes made of ticky tacky
I do love tilt shift
It looks like a model
Love Tilt Shift photography.
How to ??
You apply blur on the bottom and the top of your photo. In between the blur you leave the focus sharp. This can be either done in Photoshop or with a special lens called a tilt-shift lens.
Or try freelensing, but that's not without risk!

Thanks for that! Really interesting.

My thought: looks odd for a tilt shift.
Then I found it wasn't one.
That's a great perspective, unique.
good photo
Nice was this from WTC one? what building? Or was it a plane Or helicopter
4 WTC from I guess 70+ floor
Great photo! It’s amazing what you can do when you have a long DoF, and use a big aperture!
Nicely done!
Toy camera mode...great subject for that effect
I love this! How’d you manage to get that? Absolutely terrific.
I did it in post (and now could’ve been improved) by adding the blur in specific areas. You can do with a lens too but they’re very expensive and I can’t justify as I mostly take concert and street photography
Did you take this with a tiltshift lens or did you make it in post? Looks like post processing.
Post, unfortunately
Understandable, not cheap those tiltshift lenses!
Looks so shmall
This is fantastic
Wha??? This looks like a miniature set, like in the intro to Mr. Rogers
I wonder: if you showed this to someone from 200 years ago, would they think it looked like a miniature? The tilt-shift effect seems to rely on our subconscious association of shallow depth of field with close subjects, which someone who’s never seen a photograph wouldn’t have.
Well seeing as how 200 years ago there was no color photography, nor modern engineering, I think that the person would be more more mind blown by the alien nature of what they are looking at rather than the way the photo makes the city look like a miniature...
Nit pick. Why not point out that you can’t go back 200 years bc we haven’t invented time travel?
That we know off.. man, if someone had come up with the ability to go back in time I am sure they'd keep that under wraps. Besides - I think we've all seen episodes of the Simpsons to know Matt Groening is a freaking time traveler!!!
I wonder if the shallow depth of field could have been added in post instead of resulting from aperture. The transition looks flat somehow
Edit: nvm, I just didn't understand tilt shift
It was indeed done In post and after I sent here I noticed and learned that I could’ve done a better work by choosing the focal length to be out of focus instead of linear (biggest outlier the building on the left). Still happy for a first attempt but definitely can be improved
Google photoshop tilt-shift. I have my middle school kids try it in graphics class, but they don't always look for the best of images!
