Buy a domain, connect it to square space or a similarly easy builder, and voila. It’s artist-proof

For my art website I used Squarespace and I highly recommend it! You can build a portfolio and sell products in the same place! Give it a try, it has a free trial! No coding required, super easy.

You could set up your personal Wordpress site, I guess. But I'd really suggest just hopping onto Artstation with the rest of them.

Edit: or even [DeviantArt](https://www.deviantart.com/) in a pinch..

Ohh, yes you’re right, I misunderstood it! I apologize ☺️

Yep, I think you misunderstood my comment, although reading it back I understand the potential confusion.

I recommend those site builder services because the alternative - i.e doing it 'on your own' DOES require a large time investment and knowledge of programming.

You don’t need to know any programming to make a website in any of the platforms you mentioned. Web designer here 🫶🏻

You're probably going to want to go with a online site builder with e-commerce functionality. Your options include services like Wix, Squarespace and Shopify.

Building your website with e-commerce functionality on your own would likely take months to learn if you don't have a decent foundation in programming.

Not related to your question but when you upload your paintings to your website try to have a mockup image so users can see how it looks in certain space.

But I would also like it to make my official art porfolio 🥹

That's actually not great. Upwork is good to find new jobs, but you are still at the mercy of a platform that is not yours. Getting a domain and hosting service u/strawberryjxmmm is really cheap. Wordpress is free and there are plenty of building a portfolio, website, even a store without spending not that much and allows you for plenty of freedom.

If I was you, I would just make an Upwork account to showcase my work and accept/process orders.

pretty cool website, i like your personal thoughts laced throughout

I bought a domain, and hosting on GoDaddy. Then I installed a Wordpress site on the domain using GoDaddy’s tools. Then, I built my site. I am using the free Wordpress theme, and one or two plugins. It really doesn’t get much more simple than what I am doing on my site. You can upgrade to add e-commerce fairly easily.

There are a ton of other solutions, this is just what I chose. I like Wordpress for what it is. I do not like what I get through GoDaddy, but I don’t know where else no tell you to go. I have had good experiences hosting with nexcess, but I haven’t switched my site over yet.

You can see what I’m doing at joshuaelek.com

Cargo Collective have pretty cool artsy templates but don't know if they do e-commerce

Edit: they do https://support.cargo.site/Cargo-Commerce

Buy a domain and build a shopify store. No designing needed. You can use one of their free or paid templates

Hi!
Web designer here, I'm trying to create a portfolio of designs to show them for my freelance gig. For this, I'm willing to work with small businesses and content creators for free, you only need to pay for hosting and the domain name.

Web dev here

Websites can actually have a really high skill ceiling.

There are tools to help called content management systems, but that still doesn't cover hosting and web server configuration.

I'd recommend you go to linode.com.and use their premade WordPress image. WordPress is a free and open source CMS, so unlike wix or square space you'll be learning a valuable skill.

Happy to help in any way!

You'll probably want a spreadsheet with all your product info, and a Dropbox full of images

I've got to pitch this to you because square space and wix are lame :)

If you wanna get really fancy you can download plugins to set up sales funnels, automated marketing emails, and all that. It's all free too, you'd just pay for linode hosting and a domain name.

Also don't use go daddy

Online art sales are so low right now you are best off establishing sales with existing channels and the bootstrap. New things are expensive to establish, i.e. how will people know about your site? I would start in an existing marketplace until my sales required a scale-up. My two cents. Cheers and best of luck on your ventures.

I would also explore NFTs.

Any tips on how to create a website for artists to showcase their works and accept/process orders? I have no idea on how to put up a website, but it seems that social media (FB, IG, etc) are getting worse place for creators. I would really love to learn how to create my own art website. (HELP)
