Placements and role individual rank makes games imbalanced
If im playing dps and im going against an overwatch vet who has been masters before but he's on the enemy team because he placed silver just like me isn't really fair. Yea its gunna be a dps diff. Im not even a bad dps but I also know there's a difference between me who is better than casual players by a fk ton and people who play consistently competitive and getting high end ranks. I feel like my test of skill isn't accurate. If im a silver dps im not going against people whose skill level stops at silver, im also going against people who simply placed there like I did and those individuals can completely carry a team.
Also another issue I have is rank disparity. If im a gold 2 healer, and a guy on my team randomly says "are y'all gold or something" judging by words like that it sounds like to me people who are higher than your rank (plat, diamond etc) may also be grouped with you. So the logic of "are yall gold or something" is silly cause isn't the point of rank to play against people of similar rank? That's what I mean. You are IN gold being asked if you are in gold. Uhhh how do you answer that? Its not my fault the game groups people up higher than you.
There is little true test of skill. You have people who simply placed low despite being diamond and masters all over watch 1, you have people who are good but may be solo queue only like me which is basically a gamble. These disparities makes whatever rank you are at not really accurate. If you are in gold not everybody there is gold. At least in rank or skill. Same from silver, bronze etc. And since each role has individual rank, this means a grandmaster tank can pop on his silver dps and go crazy. That experience isn't lost. It may be a new role but you still understand the fundamentals of the game and your aim is likely on point and positioning.
So when you combine placements, people who place far lower than their actual skill, when you consider solo queue good people that climb a little slower, when you consider role ranks etc all of this makes competitive unbalanced. Ill never get healer diffed but if my enemy dps is an overwatch vet with 2000 hours on genji and my team types dps diff what do you expect me to say? Clearly that player doesn't belong here. I can't ignore his experience and out dps him. It's not balanced. When a widow is flicking headshots without missing what do you expect me to say? You belong in an entirely different game yet you aren't. So its not my fault. No true test of skill when the rank you are in doesn't actually have people at that skill level but rather all over the place. The rest of his teammates could be average but then the guy on Reaper is 17k damage vs 8000-12000 on everybody else.
