He's not saying we feel cheated or anything. Obviously online game servers get shut down eventually. The point is that the game is the exact same game ( and imo worse), so the game we paid for is still the game were playing. If they would have made an actual ow2, people wouldn't be complaining ( as much)

I still think there was no point but to make people pay more for less

I'm not disagreeing with you that it feels slimy. But that's unfortunately what can happen to people who pay for a GaaS.

They didn't change anything to make overwatch 2 to warrant a sequel. It is just Overwatch 1 but updated. It is the same game but with a system removed. I wouldn't mind if it was a big difference. It would be a different game. But it's not. It's almost the exact same

You didn't pay $60 to "own" OW1 and have neverending access to its cosmetic system. You paid $60 for a license to access OW1 servers and you told Blizzard that you understood those servers could be altered or shut down at any time when you agreed to the ToS.

Six years later, Blizzard did just that.

It sucks, but what happened with OW1 is completely possible for any live service game. At least you got to keep your collection, which likely dwarfs what most new players will ever amass.

Yeah. Maybe coins for levelling up and playing unpopular roles. Maybe challenges that give a fair amount.

Yeah. I think what they should have done is get rid of the battlepass, Keep the old currency and award it at a rate on par with lootbox farming and then charge for Ultra skins.

I guess there's that. It would've been so easy for them to just rip away our stuff because "ItS oVeRwAtCh 2 NoW"

You're not wrong but we do get to bring over our old skins and credits which can't buy everything but can buy a good amount of new stuff.

That being said, this monetization has further hurt the playerbases already hemorrhaging good will.

I definitely do. In terms of monetization for OW2, it being paid or F2P is redundant information.

You keep using that word. I don't think it means what you think it means.

Either way it's redundant whether it's paid or free to play in terms of monetization

Not only for this but actual illegal practices

You think this would fly if it was paid. It's the only way because they know deadshits like you will eat it up

Get away with providing a completely free game while selling cosmetics? Oh no...

lol that's an easy way to have everything turn to shit because they know they can get away with anything

A lot of people paid $60 for this. It isn't free for us. This is just Overwatch but they removed the ability to earn free cosmetics. Free cosmetics was part of the game we paid for. Now it's gone

To everyone who says this change in monetization is fine because it's F2P
