Gawd theres a sarcastic 90s kid inside this adult meat suit that really misses those absolutely ridiculous candles. (the artists who got carried away with the blood was always a memorable way to pray).

There might actually be halachic issues in using candles intended for Catholic service

To be fair, my local Food Lion's in nc actually does keep the shabbos candles with the prayer candles in the ethnic food isle.

Haha, I asked my local winco if they had Hanukkah/Shabbat candles and they brought me to the Mexican aisle where they have those tall catholic Jesus and mary candles in glass, and grabbed me some of the plain ones. To be clear, I did buy some but only Bc I love candles and they were like 75¢ 😂

I was shocked that the one near me has a whole aisle. Granted, a lot of it is eye-rolly, but some of it is cute, and it’s nice to see. I showed my daughter the singing bubbe doll. She looked at it, looked at me, and said, “Put it back, mama.” Lol.

Not a small Jewish population by me, but the local Shoprite always puts out all the same stuff in the "Jewish holiday" section, except on Passover. Then there's just more.

My local grocery store puts yartzeit candles on their chanukah end cap.

I can't imagine target (or Kmart) here selling anything Jewish. Lucky we have Astoria.

I am in Australia. Ours sells gelt with Santa on it. 😬

Mine used to be decent. And granted I've been sticking to curbside pickup since COVID, but I remember the last time I was in store shopping for Chanukkah wrapping paper they had like... nothing.

And I live in a fairly Jewish area. Was really surprising.

But don't worry, they had matzah on the endcap if I need!

They're one of the few places near me that has candles. And they had the Mensch on a Bench too!

I feel like Target does a pretty good job with Hanukkah- the one near me does an end-of-aisle display, and it's the only place around me that consistently has candles every year. I tried at the grocery store once, and a well-meaning-but-confused employee led me to the votive candles instead ¯\\\_(ツ)\_/¯

Chanuklause - my new favourite ninja turtle

What's wrong with traditional Chanukah ornaments? Don't you even have a Chanukah tree?

Also, if you don't put your traditional Chanukah stockings out, Chanuklause won't come to your house this year.

See also: blue and white tinsel, Hanukkah cards, and my personal *favourite* holiday decoration, the Mensch on a Bench.

When I converted my mother sent me a book on Judaism...as an easter present. 😂😂

Hey, as long as they aren't "traditional Chanukah stockings" or "traditional Chanukah ornaments".

I love classic white and blue, avoids hideous combinations of green/red/yellow/orange/purple etc.

Target’s white ceramic menorahs are designed to be colored.

I expect they will get more in. I bought a dinosaur one last year.

I once found blue and green Hannukah dessert plates, and I was so excited that they weren't *just* blue and white. No one understood

What’s the Pantone number for Jew Blue?

I went on a Facebook rampage about how blue has become the official color for us, and I feel like we didn’t really even sign up for it. Capitalism did. I guess it is in the Israeli flag, so maybe that’s where it’s coming from.

I hate that everything Jewish is always in Jew Blue™️ and not other colors. White and blue are such a cold combo during the winter too.

My local H‑E‑B is much more reliable than Target for Jewish holiday supplies.

They always have gelt, dreidels, menorahs, candles,
themed cookie cutters and cake pans, etc.

Michaels usually has a display with similar items, do you have one in your area?

That’s odd.
I visited my friend in Houston and we were wildly impressed with the Hanukkah displays in Target, BBB, Pier 1, etc in comparison to the paltry nearly non-existent one in the Brooklyn Target by me.

It’s really hit or miss for those of us living in Texas to get these items at our Targets.

I have a T-shirt with Love peace and latke grease With a picture of the menorah. I love it because those are three things I want/need in the winter time.

> The pillows and towels say 'peace, love, and light,' and I don't feel that's what Chanukah is about.

Just for once I'd like to see a Hanukkah tea towel depicting the beheading of General Nicanor.

The display made me feel a little weird. The pillows and towels say 'peace, love, and light,' and I don't feel that's what Chanukah is about. Chanukah is about fighting and dying for our right to live and practice as Jews, it's not a Christmas adjacent holiday filled with light and good cheer 🤷‍♀️

The one I go to did pretty good this year. I got a ceramic menorah that looks like a whale and cute little serving bowls labeled ‘apple sauce’ and ‘sour cream’. Although tbf a couple of the serving bowl packages contained just two apple sauce bowls lol.

If only they made more than a few rolls of that adorable narwhal and octopi celebrating Hanukkah wrapping paper. We got a few rolls because it was so cute a few years ago and wished we’d seen more like it. It was cute and a little random but quirky in such a fun way.

I love that they have 5$ menorahs. Would have been in my budget back in college.

I got a huge coffee mug last year at Target for Chanukah, just dark blue with a magen david and it says "oy vey all day". It ain't much, but I love it.

I mean…I do kind of like those pillows.

My daughter loves Jewish representation in stores, especially during the winter holidays. This would make her lose her mind. 😁

I went to Target once and asked if they had Hanukkah candles and I was told that "the christmas stuff is over here."

I know what she meant, and I didn't correct her, but it bothered me soooo much.

Laugh all you want, but I snagged a corgi menorah for like $5, so no complaints from me. It's delightfully kitschy.

You know, it just doesn’t feel like Hanukkah without the traditional decorative pillows.

I mean, at least it's not a Hannukah ham.

A major part of the benefit of buying judaica is supporting jewish artisans and vendors who continue to preserve and add richness to our traditions and communities. Keep those judaics shops in business. Support jewish businesses and artisans. Save target for socks, underwear and Tupperware.

They're for Chanukah-over, when we recline on pillows while gathered round the blazing Chanukah bush and wait for the gelt fairy to drop off latkes & tinsel. *Right?!*

It's my favorite holiday! 😄

A throw pillow is an easy, affordable way to change up the decor in your living space to be seasonal or festive. The podcast Decoder Ring did a great episode about the rise of the decorative throw pillow that you can listen to [here](https://slate.com/culture/2019/07/decoder-ring-explores-the-rise-of-the-decorative-pillow.html). My husband and I love that podcast and it's written and hosted by Willa Paskin, a Jewish woman from NYC.

I mean, they make as much sense as Xmas pillows that I see everywhere.

Oooh we're low on traditional pillows. Thanks for the tip! But seriously, thank you for tip 🙂

Well, you know. CHANUKAH IS ALMOST HERE! ONLY LIKE A MONTH AND A HALF LEFT! THAT'S LIKE 1/8 OF THE YEAR! ALMOST HERE!

Man, I could sleep all the way until Chanukah, if only I had a traditional Chanukah pillow...

Target Chanukah - $5 menorahs, candles. Some art kits for kids. And “traditional Chanukah pillows” for some reason. Just by the front entrance.
