Why the Allies won, by Richard Overy. It describes how the allies did have to build up all the things we consider led them to victory, i.e., industrial capacity in the US, Atlantic naval superiority, supply lines, weaponry, etc. I'd say its premise is to demonstrate how an Allied victory really was not a given and the Axis did have the upper hand at first, but the Allies addressed their shortcomings.

Last book I read about WW2 was tomorrow you die by Andy Coogan about the British prisoner of war in Japan from the perspective of the author.

Very interesting as it isn’t my normal WW2 interest but I thought it was able to describe what life was like under Japanese guards and being moved around different camps

Currently I'm reading the transcript of a discussion between Major General John K. Christmas about Ordnance Modification during WWII with students at the Industrial College of the Armed Forces on 27 November 1946.

General Christmas was Assistant Chief of the US Army Tank and Automotive Center 1942-1945. He played a significant role in the development of the Army's tanks during WWII. Here is a brief biography. [https://www.arlingtoncemetery.net/jkchristmas.htm](https://www.arlingtoncemetery.net/jkchristmas.htm)

The Last German Victory-it is a comparison and contrast of British and German Forces during Market Garden. It not only talks about what the British shortcomings were but what the Germans did right.

The digger from Kokoda, Reg Chard. One of the last living Kokoda veterans, an Aussie national treasure

The Rising Son… John Toland. One of the more informative narratives of Japanese mindset and the war in the Pacific.

Sorry. I’m hard of hearing and as a result shout sometimes /s

im reading Kont Galeazzo Ciano 1939-1943. Its about what did live in Italia in those years. You can learn info day by day. it wroten by Mussolini's groom.

Unbroken. The audiobook from the library app Libby. It is the most heartwrenching story I have ever read. A testament to the perseverance and strength of the human will.

There is such a vast amount of interesting information. about the war. Thanks for sharing this example. 👍

I'm currently reading a book I bought about Jersey, Channel Islands. It's called "A Doctors Occupation" by Dr John Lewis. It's a really interesting read about his experiences of living under the occupation. If you're not aware, the channel islands were taken over by Germany during the war and its sobering because I think it shows how close they came to almost gettingto the rest of the UK. Its definitely worth a read!

I hate to admit it but I have no idea what was going on in China in the years from 1918 to 1945, all I knew was they were having a war with Japan. Found out quite a bit was going on!

That sounds like a great way to develop a better understanding of China's situation leading up to WWII!

I wanted to get a sense of what was happening in [China before the war in 1919](https://howtheytellit.com/1918_1945/1919_China.html) so I've been reading the story of the First Republic of China, the May Fourth Movement and the Kuomintang.

It is a good idea to try and view the war through the lens of those reporting on it. Your approach certainly adds a new perspective on the subject. I keep a number of bound versions of these types of things just for that reason.

Life magazines from War Time. It’s interesting to read what the thoughts and thinking was at that time in history. They also go over the fighting that month with maps pictures illustrations 😂 my favorite part.

WHAT ARE YOU READING NOW OR RECENTLY ABOUT WW2? AND WHAT ARE YOUR THOUGHTS ABOUT IT?
