Heavy weapon ammo economy could really use some easy tweaks

Discussion

Some opinions about the ammo economy of Fallout 76's heavy weapons. I understand that some degree of ammo crafting adds to the Falloutness of the world. Sure. And I understand that ammo crafting perks exist. But ammo should be fair and proportionate to each weapon class, and currently it is not. To me these seem like obvious problems with easy solutions. Discuss if you disagree :)

  • Minigun: Unsustainable. Increase the quantity of dropped/crafted 5mm ammo by a factor of 3.

  • Light machine gun: .308 is used by small guns as a sniper rifle cartridge. This is not a sniper rifle. Switch to .50 caliber ammo. It literally does the same damage as the other MG, its ammo should not be 8 times more expensive. Let the player choose between huge magazine for sustained fire, versus small magazine with accurate burst.

  • Gatling Gun: Way TOO good. Change to .45 caliber ammo which is more in line with its high power and low rate of fire.

  • Flamer: x4 the amount crafted? Acid and oil for 20 fuel with a potential of 720 base damage. .50 caliber ammo produces 4300 base damage per craft batch. If flamer fuel is supposed to be insanely expensive, then burn DOT effect should actually be noticeable.

  • Gatling Plasma: Damage potential per crafting operation is quite good, great weapon all around, but plasma cores are almost never found as loot which seems unfair.

  • Gauss minigun: 2mm EC ammo is used by the gauss rifle which is essentially a sniper rifle. This is not a sniper rifle. Create new ammo type "1mm EC" which is crafted/looted in batch size that make sense for this gun's rate of fire.

  • Explosive heavy guns: I have never found any use for any of these.
