Interesting too see the residual indigenous ancestry.

Seems that nearly all of these people have 3% or less indigenous. It helps confirm the oral history of mixing with the Mik’Mak people in Canada. This is a controversial thing in some parts of twitter. I’m personally surprised at how little African ancestry there was, and at the Jewish portions on some.

Quite a few have either Vietnamese or older Asian/Romany descent. Very colorful.

Probably the southern portion of the United States.

United States, specifically southern Louisiana and southeast Texas.

South Louisiana has had a little bit of everything for a long time, although unfortunately the Black and White communities only mixed a little bit and the Asian and Romany ones either assimilated, moved elsewhere, or didn’t have children.

Yup. That's pretty much what half my DNA matches look like. It's real neat to see that genetic diversity displayed in such a way.

I'm getting my Cajun partner a 23andme test and very interested to see what it will look like! I've been working on his tree for several months. Just waiting on his AncestryDNA currently.

I find the small amounts of indigenous and black interesting and how recurring it is. I've found a couple ancestors in his tree in the 1800s marked as black. Wondering if DNA would confirm it.

It's interesting to see how quite a few of them have trace Bengali/Indian ancestry. Does anyone know where this could come from? My mom is Cajun and she also gets trace amounts of Bengali in her results and idk where it could come from besides it maybe being misread Mi'kmaq.
