Which city is the most lively at night and has the better nightlife/party scene - Florence or Bologna?

TRAVEL AND TOURISM

For those of you that have been to both Florence and Bologna - which city comes alive at night the most and has the better nightlife scene?

When I say nightlife scene - I mean streets filled with busy bars and clubs most days of the week, with lots of young people about having a good time and partying.

So out of Florence and Bologna, which city is the best for nightlife and has the bigger quantity of nightlife options?

Thanks!

Bologna has a decent nightlife and a large university population to drive some of it. However, I found the nightlife in Florence generally more active, more fun, and with more to do.

Interesting. Can you go into more detail on what made Florence nightlife more active and fun for you? Also curious on what you mean by "more to do" when it comes to nightlight. More upscale places than just college bars?

If your age is between 20/30 definitely Bologna. I have been here for 5 years and i never get bored cause there are so many things to do. Cant speak for Firenze cause i have only been there only a few times.

Bologna, although it’s a very specific kind of nightlife. There definitely are elegant bars and clubs (especially on the south side) but most of the liveliest nightlife is “Rachet AF” (as the kids say nowadays) around Via delle Moline and Via Zamboni. Don’t get me wrong, it’s lots of fun, but it’s a specific kind of fun. On the other hand, by their own admission the nightlife in Florence is surprisingly tame.

If you want to know what it’s like to attend a big university in the US like Michigan or Indiana, go to Florence.
