5 player glitch?

I know there have been a few posts about people getting into 5 player games by accidently joining a 3 player game at the same time as another person.

I tried to do this today with the new season update and could not get the glitch to work.

Has anyone tried to do this intentionally and if yes, does it still work with the new update?
