Gotta agree with adanthang. I've got 3 accounts. Rookie account has about 500 games and EM7, sniper 8 etc... and I still place top 10 every single tourney. You either want to get better or you want it to be easier. When I first started, I complained too. Eventually found a supportive clan that helped me improve. I'd suggest you do the same. PD isn't going to cater to the casual player. That's not what makes them money. I wouldn't hold my breath on that if I were you. PLENTY of YouTube tutorials and free guides out there. David Pendleton has excellent FREE rookie guides on YouTube. Highly recommend. If you can't get top 10 with those guides... then I'd look into a different game. 

FTR, I have spent no money on my rookie account... and I won't ever need to. Don't need to put gems into clubs and you don't need wind 5 balls. And just so no one thinks I'm trying to brag about that "not ever spending money", I've spent way too much on master's account. This game is good at getting $$ out of

It's not like they just stick you in the 3rd tier right away. You have to play into it... so if you are in the third tier, you've earned it. All of my golds are in 3rd tier. That's not a flex, that's just what literally anyone can do if they work at the game and, if you choose, use YouTube guides that are available to everyone. It's not like everyone in the 3rd tier is just gaming the system. It's just people that care and want to win. I assume millions of the users of this game are driven to win. Which is why there are tiers in the first place. Casual players may never make it to 3rd. But the people that want the challenge and want to win, can and inevitably, do.

I honestly couldn’t tell you, I just know I play In the rookie bracket.

Are you in R3? If so that is a blood bath as is P3 and E3. 

The two lower tiers in each division has a more even playing field.

I think you are in fact WRONG. Shooting -11 or 12 under in a ROOKIE tournament and you can’t even place? That’s some issues with the game right there.

I think what you are asking for is called a participation trophy.  IMO If you want place higher in a tournament, play better.  I suck at tournaments, but making them easier won’t motivate me to play any better.

No skill?   That's a bit of an exaggeration.  It could easily be argued that it would take MORE skill to eyeball how far to correct for wind VS following precise charts drawn up for you by a spreadsheet.

exactly this - Like many others, I started playing this game in the covid lockdown days and I had nothing but time...I entered many tournaments and placed high in a decent number of them as well, even a handful of gold banners across a few accounts.   


Then I was called back to work, I immediately lost about 10 hours per day of free time and I noticed that I couldn't really devote time to tournaments any more, at least not to a point of making myself competitive, so I simply stopped playing tournaments and now focus on enjoying tour play. It is what it is.

If they don’t have the time, don’t play tourneys and enjoy playing tour.  You don’t have to participate in every aspect of the game.

There wouldn’t be any skill at all if you removed the wind rings, what you would get is people making a ton of 1 ring pulls to the edge of the bullseye and timing out.

Competitive environment? It’s a mobile game. Then how about you “skilled” players play against people of the same caliber vs trying to beat up on rookies?

Unless you make the game mostly luck driven, people who have the time and put in the time will ALWAYS have a sizeable advantage over people who don't. period.

Okay but it’s still absolute crap that you can’t place (at least in rookie for me, not sure about others) without eagling the par 5’s and getting at least 1-2 par 4 eagles and maybe an ace as well.

I don't say eyeballing would not require skill. It sure does. You will develop a feel of how far you will you have to pull your bullseye against the wind. And ultimately you will get close. Some will get closer than others. 

But I am talking about getting the actual drop. That will be much more down to luck than it is with the rings and wind ring numbers.

I somewhat disagree. I think winging it could require some skills too. I just thought it was a way to level the playing field for the people who don’t have the time or want really to master the wind rings.

It has been brought up already. It would put a much much higher emphasis on luck if we did away with the rings.

Well yea, removing the skill from the game and making it luck would absolutely benefit the casual player. 

Go play slots if you want it to come down to luck.

I guess you could be right but I’m not sure how else they  would do that. Unless it’s green squares or something but even then, I think it would make it more competitive for the casual player which is all my post was about.

If you take away rings, eventually someone would develop a different system to dial in shots. You are never going to prevent skilled and motivated people from finding ways to win.

Ok, you realise that 99% of the time -11 is below par, and maybe 40/50% of the time -12 is below par? You surely can’t expect you should be able to get into the top 10% if you perform averagely at best?

It seems very silly to suggest the game should cater to you because you’re unable/unwilling to get better. It would be like turning up for some football trials, not getting in the squad, then demanding the trial should be done again after everyone else takes their boots off because it isn’t fair on you that they’re better?

I guess it couldn’t hurt to try one higher to see.

Honestly if you have the bankroll, just move up to pro on the next tournament and see if you place better. Rookie is full of people shooting -25 or better

Exactly. Shooting -11 to -12 in rookie and you don’t even have a chance? Regardless of the level that’s insane. I think the brackets should be by average tournament score. I’m normally good for -11 or 12 unless I make mistakes or get super lucky. Even then, MAYBE I shoot -13 if I’m lucky. That still wouldn’t get me even a top 10 most tournaments.

I feel like I’m having a similar issue but on expert level. I’ve had times where I shoot -12 and don’t qualify because the qualifying people ranged from -14 to -18. I cannot compete with that for merely the same reasons as you. I don’t care enough about the game to neither invest more time nor money for I have other prioritized responsibilities. I don’t think anyone will come up with the perfect solution but it is almost as if the tours are over saturated and it might do the game justice to add another difficulty level to alleviate some of the times of getting placed in a pool of people way above your skill grade. Maybe it incentivizes people to go to that next level and spreads out the skill a bit more. Just been my opinion on it but I’m just me, not the majority, and I’m not a developer.

The guy complained about how hard it is to win bling. Bling = experience and work. Like I mentioned, the best always outplay the rest no matter the adjustment. No participation bling given.

If the apps suddenly disappear it would make an ounce of difference.  Many people could make an excel spreadsheet in an hour that would do the exact same thing.

Disallowing notebook and the computer aids would make it more human calculating. No more sliders. The rings would still work but they would not be near as accurate. You could speed up each turn 5 sec so there would be less time to use the calculator. But no matter what there will be levels of play better than the average guy. That’s why there is a curve. The ones that gripe live on the wrong side of the hump.

You have the time to play the game and come on Reddit to complain about it but you don’t have the time to learn how to play it properly, got it.

They should be removed. Or Atleast a game mode without them.

It takes a 15 minute video and any number of apps/tools to either give you decimal-point accurate results, or learn your club's min/max and just use mental math

If neither of those appeal to you, and I mean this in the nicest way, you may want to find another game that does - the rings will never be removed.

Why not just learn how to adjust for wind? There’s plenty of info out there. You don’t have to be super technical about it, just knowing more or less how much wind is per ring for your clubs makes the game so much easier. I know my extra mile is about 2 wind per ring, same for my rough and sand irons (at max distance) and the rest are high accuracy so generally about 1 wind per ring. It’s not rocket science, the good players don’t have an unfair advantage, they’ve just done the ground work.

Bro. This isn’t real golf. It may say birdie when you nail it; but in reality that is a par. This is easier than the real deal. Negative 11 is NOTHING in a tournament. You basically did kinda good.

No, but surely the point of any game is you get out what you put in? Taking away masses of skill level just to cater to lower level players is a huge backwards step.

If it became a separate game mode, that no one was forced to play, then it’s relatively harmless. But as a suggestion for a general game overhaul, it would be a total death knell for the game

Right, but the best players do, what makes you think the extra time they put in won’t translate to any constraints that are added?

ie The best players who put in the most time will be better than you (who isn’t willing to put in the time) no matter what the “rules” are.

Some players don’t have all the time to sit there and study holes for hours and have multiple accounts.

It would take virtually all skill out of the game, and actually do very little to alter the general status quo. The best players will be the best at the basic judgements of how far to move their rings and therefore limit mistakes at the highest rate, but literally any drop suddenly becomes 100% about blind luck. Why would a player invest time and money playing a game where they have essentially have no control over the outcome? It would also be a huge financial mistake for PD, because it would render the practice mode fairly redundant- nothing for anyone to dial in

My suggestion years ago was for rookie and pro comps have the bullseye removed and keep it for exp and masters comps - would suit all types of player then, after all it wouldn’t affect elite players as they shouldn’t be trying to win pro and rookie comps and for casual players entering pro or rookie would feel like the playing field is levelled up somewhat

The only problem with tournament play is
Higher skilled players takeing over the rookie league. But hey if your that person no doubt you most likely have the Ehrlich grid and call your self a highly skilled player

Could you stop using the word “eyeballing “ it’s confusing. What ? Do some people do it blind or let the computer do it for them? So they’re not eyeballing?

Not sure if this has been brought up before but..there’s lots of complaints (I’m one of them) about how tournaments are almost impossible to place high in, even in rookie which is what I play. What about..removing the wind rings? I swear the adjustments have changed recently but anyway..you’d still get the bulls eye to aim and ball trail, but no rings, then you have to adjust on the fly. Maybe a separate game mode for wind ring/no wind rings?
